Lau accepts PAS’s apology over ceramah snub
The Gerakan president says it is time to move on and focus on the state polls.

PETALING JAYA: Gerakan president Dominic Lau has accepted PAS’s apology over the snub he received at the Perikatan Nasional ceramah in Sungai Dua, Penang, on Tuesday.
PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan apologised to Lau this morning, saying he should have been treated as a guest, in accordance with Islamic principles.
“I accept his apology. Right now, we should put it (the incident) behind us. We have seven more days until polling day,” China Press quoted him as saying.
“We need to do our best to send a positive message to our voters.”
Lau thanked Takiyuddin for the apology and urged all parties to put the matter to rest.
“I’ve received plenty of support from Gerakan members as well as messages from people who claimed to be PAS members. They told me they are sorry for what had happened,” he said.
“I replied to each and every one of them saying I already accepted their apology.”
Lau’s deputy, Oh Tong Keong, who had asked PAS for an explanation over the incident, said the damage had been done, but hoped the incident would serve as a lesson to all party leaders to be more mindful of their actions, China Press reported.
