Beware of who you vote for in state polls; be wary of PAS’ “marriage-divorce” track record

Beware of who you vote for in state polls; be wary of PAS’ “marriage-divorce” track record

THERE is a need to remind the people of PAS’ simple ‘marriage-divorce’ record so that they would choose wisely which party or coalition to form the state government in the upcoming state polls.

Barisan Nasional’s (BN) strategic communications director Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek who issued such caution said PAS often ended up discrediting its “former partner” to capture the hearts of the people.

“Some couples like marriage and divorce. When they get married, they’re a great couple. It used to be PAS who ‘tied the knot’ with DAP. At that time, they chanted ‘support DAP’ and told their election machinery to raise the DAP flag,” the UMNO Online portal quoted the UMNO Supreme Council member as speaking.

Ahmad Shabery was a panelist for a live talk programme entitled “Painting the Victory Canvas” organised by the Unity Government’s Media Secretariat on Friday (July 14).

Delving further into the six state elections slated for Aug 12, the Federal Land Development Authority (FELDA) chairman stressed the need for political parties in the unity government to move forward to gauge what the people want and make every effort to fulfil their aspirations.

“We move forward to better understand what the people want. Young people want jobs, common people want peace and everyone wants prosperity. We know we have various problems. But we will never solve the problem amid the uncertain situation or inconsistent state and federal administrations,” observed Ahmad Shabery.

“We need to establish a stable and parallel government between the state and the federation. In Kelantan, the water problem has not been solved for 33 years. They used to be the minister in-charge of water but their water-related problem has never been resolved.”

He added: “The same applies to the hudud law. They, too, were once appointed as ministers of law and religion. But they did not implement the law even when they were in power. When the power is lost, they claimed that everything is not right.” – July 17, 2023

  1. As an Islamic party, PAS should be admired for their ability to ingratiate itself with different coalitions to gain prominence and acceptance.

DAP was totally blindsided and used as a doormat for PAS to step through the door for kegitimacy. And thrown away like used tissue once DAP was no longer needed as a partner.

But DAP is needed now as a punching bag.

As I have said before, PAS plays the long game. Even in PN, those who think Mahiaddin is "in charge" should rethink.

PAS is quite happy for Bersatu and Mahiaddin to be seen as the big brother in the coalition.

But we know Hadi is calling the shots
