Questions arise after Anwar's meet with Nik Omar, Nik Abduh

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s one-day visit to Kelantan yesterday has raised eyebrows among political observers who noted his meeting with two sons of former PAS spiritual adviser, the late Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat.

This follows several photographs of the meeting between Anwar (above, second from right), accompanied by his wife Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, as well as brothers turned political rivals, Nik Omar Nik Abdul Aziz and Nik Muhammad Abduh.

The photographs were shared on Facebook by PKR-linked preacher Wan Ji Wan Hussin who was also in attendance.

In recent years, Nik Omar (above, second from left) and Nik Abduh (above, first from left)had charted different political paths - with the former choosing to make his debut in the Chempaka state seat for Amanah during the 2018 general elections.

Nik Abduh, meanwhile, remained in PAS and was a former two-term MP but he was not fielded during the 15th general election.

Wan Ji in his post captioned the photographs: “Insya-Allah, Tok Guru Nik Aziz’s legacy is always in the heart of the prime minister.”

In a separate post, Wan Ji alluded to alleged attempts by certain parties out to kill Nik Aziz’s legacy.

“Although there are parties who want to kill the legacy, certainly there will be others who try to raise it,” he said.

In another post, Wan Ji said the culture of sibling rivalry due to political differences should be set aside for one that celebrates diversity in politics.

“In the culture of politics in the name of religion in Malaysia, diversity is seen as a polarising point, until even siblings were forced to be nemesis just because they were in different parties.

“We are bringing up the Madani concept to create a large Malaysian family. Our diversity should not be a point of contention, but rather to seek wisdom,” he said.

Malaysiakini has reached out to Wan Ji for further comments on the meeting.
