KUALA LUMPUR, May 11 — Just a day after Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim welcomed Coldplay with a tweet, a PAS leader is calling for the British rock band’s concert to be cancelled.

PAS central committee member Nasrudin Hassan posted yesterday on Facebook: “Does the government want to nurture a culture of hedonism and perversion in this country?”

He also posted photos of Coldplay’s frontman, Chris Martin, holding up the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) flag at a concert in London.

“I advise (the government) to cancel the concert. It brings no benefit to race, religion or country,” said Nasrudin, a former one-term Temerloh MP.

His post has gone viral followed quickly by furious backlash, with many on social media telling him it’s his choice not to attend the concert but he can’t force his beliefs on others.

A Twitter user posted: “You don’t want to go, don’t go la. Don’t tell us what to do with our lives.”

“This band has sponsored river cleaning for Malaysia but your party has contributed nothing for the last 60 years,” said a Facebook user, referring to Coldplay’s sponsorship of a watercraft in 2019 which was placed in the Klang River to remove plastic trash from rivers.

“That’s right, let’s ban all companies named rainbow or pelangi, next let’s ban all rainbow-coloured buildings and finally, let’s ban looking at a rainbow,” said another Facebook user.

Much to the joy of all concert-goers in Malaysia, Coldplay had recently announced that their first concert in Malaysia will be held on November 22 at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium.

The concert, which is a dream come true for Malaysian Coldplay fans, is part of the band’s highly anticipated return to Asia with its record-breaking Music of the Spheres world tour.

PAS' Nasrudin Hassan who has an Egyptian name Tantawi, wakakaka, has also been notorious for his diatribes against Valentine's Day, during his Ketua PAS Youth days, blaming the event's celebration as an exercise in fornication resulting in unwanted babies.

Nasrudin bizarrely blamed celebrations on Valentine's Day and New Year's Day as the root cause, where these celebrations encourage free sex that has led to ... yadda yadda yadda ... culminating in baby dumping.

Nasrudin claimed: "It's an indication that the 'mating season' occurred during the New Year's Day celebrations."

The logic of our dearest local Egyptian, Mr Tantawi, is astonishing. He was elected as MP for Temerloh by Pakatan supporters who idiotically ABU-ed a then-good bloke like Saifuddin Abdullah (formerly UMNO, then PKR but now, to my immense disappointment, Pribumi Bersatu).

Mr Tantawi should be educated on the reality that New Year's Days and Valentine’s Days have been celebrated all over the world, but without Malaysia's kind of baby dumping as he alleged.

Why?

'Coz their societies are far more humane, compassionate, caring, supportive and less misogynistic.

Thus we could certainly do with less of such nonsensical PAS self-interests-driven pronouncements.

Mr Tantawi should examine child marriages happening in his home state where wee lil' sweeties (some even aged below 12) have been married to old e;f;f;e;r;s, and do something about those child abuses.

  1. How a party like PAS survives in a multi racial society like Malaysia is beyond me.

The government should look at the lessons this racist and extremust party conducts at its madrasahs.

There must be a lot of mind poisoning going in to instil hate towards anything that PAS deems afronts their allah's laws.

People like this bigot should stay in the mountain or jungle and live their own lives
