AMPANG, Nov 3 — Datuk Seri Edmund Santhara, the former Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia leader who defected to Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM) recently, will defend his Segamat seat for his latest party, said Datuk Zuraida Kamaruddin.

The PBM president-designate disclosed this at an event where she presented signed credential letters to the party's 15th general election candidates here.

Both Zuraida and Edmund won their seats on PKR’s ticket in the 14th general election, before defecting after the so-called “Sheraton Move” that brought down the Pakatan Harapan government in 2020.

Tonight, Zuraida also announced that PBM deputy president and incumbent Lembah Jaya assemblyman Haniza Mohamed Talha would be making her electoral debut as a federal representative after the latter was announced as a candidate for the Hulu Selangor seat.

In the same event, Zuraida also launched the election machinery for her campaign to defend her seat as the MP for Ampang, which she has held since 2008.

When met by reporters later, Zuraida maintained that the recent internal conflict regarding the party's leadership was resolved.

PBM’s internal issues came to light last month after Zuraida was announced to have replaced Sng as its president after a supreme council meeting that the latter claimed was held without his knowledge and consent.

In reaction, Sng suspended 13 party supreme council members, including Zuraida.

"No more issues, our boss wants to move forward," she said, referring to current president Datuk Larry Sng.
