“Show me your numbers if you dare,” Puad challenges Muhyiddin

“Show me your numbers if you dare,” Puad challenges Muhyiddin

UMNO Supreme Council member Datuk Dr Puad Zarkashi has challenged Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin to show the purported list of 115 MPs supporting him.

Calling the former prime minister “arrogant”, Puad said Muhyiddin clearly did not respect the Yang di-Pertuan Agong when he rejected His Majesty’s proposal for a unity government between his coalition and Pakatan Harapan (PH).

“Muhyiddin claimed to have sent the statutory declarations (SDs) of 115 MPs supporting him as prime minister,” he said on Facebook today (Nov 23).

“It is as if Muhyiddin is blaming Istana Negara for saying that this was not enough. If he’s brave enough, just reveal the names of the 115 MPs. Who knows, we might find names of Barisan Nasional (BN) MPs on the list.

“If you’re not brave enough [to reveal the names of the MPs], the Istana Negara wouldn’t believe you, let alone the rakyat.

“What has become obvious last night is that Muhyiddin is arrogant and vindictive. Does he deserve to be prime minister again?”

Last night following his meeting with the Agong, Muhyiddin told members of the media that PN is firm about the stand that they will not work with PH.

Muhyiddin had also insisted that he had the support of 115 MPs to become prime minister, alongside the SDs from elected representatives.

These documents had been submitted to Istana Negara on Monday (Nov 21), he added, further noting that he had a “letter of receipt” from the Agong’s senior private secretary to prove his claim.

Muhyiddin said he wanted prove that when the documents were submitted they had more than 112 MPs supporting the PN coalition, and this was why they were confident that they could form the federal government.

“But when I met [His Majesty], he said this was not enough. I don’t know what was the reason for this, but the proof is there,” he had said. – Nov 23, 2022
