Let Anwar’s swearing-in proceed smoothly, say cops
Anwar Ibrahim will be sworn in as the nation’s 10th prime minister at 5pm today.
PETALING JAYA: Supporters of political parties who act provocatively or raise issues related to race and religion will face stern action, say the police ahead of the 5pm swearing-in of Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman Anwar Ibrahim as the prime minister.
Brickfields district police chief Amihizam Abdul Shukor advised the public, especially supporters of political parties, to abide by the law and ensure that Anwar’s swearing-in runs smoothly.
“The public is also advised not to upload any social media posts that may lead to anger or misunderstanding among the (people),” he said in a statement.
“The public is also reminded not to speculate on matters.”
Earlier today, Istana Negara confirmed that PKR president Anwar will be appointed to lead a unity government as the nation’s 10th prime minister.
Following the announcement, PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli urged PH supporters not to hold any celebratory gatherings to avoid any risk of provocation.
Rafizi said PH supporters should be careful with any content or messages on social media that can cause concern or be used as an excuse for provocation.
He also pointed out that following the election results, PH and PKR leaders have not issued any statement amid efforts to form a unity government.

Rafizi really stands out. This is another example of a clear headed leader. Worthy successor to Anwar
