Siew Ling.
A lawyer, Siew Ling, 27, said she expected DAP to re-nominate Santiago as he had “done a good job” in resolving issues and helping constituents.
“I expected Santiago to win again if he had been nominated. I believe most voters in Klang were rooting for him. But I am willing to hear what the new candidate has to offer,” she told FMT after a PH ceramah here.
She said she also wanted to hear what Ganabatirau’s plans were for mitigating floods in the area.
Another voter, calling herself Pam, also expressed her disappointment that Santiago was not nominated but said she was willing to give Ganabatirau a chance.
Pam said she was looking at all the candidates, regardless of which party they represent, as she wanted to know their plans.
“I want a government that considers the needs of the people and works to serve them,” she said.
Meanwhile, a hardware salesman who wished to remain anonymous, said while he appreciated all that Santiago had done for the people in Klang, he believed Ganabatirau was a good candidate.

“Santiago has already served the constituency for three terms, it is time to give others a chance,” he said.
The 68-year-old hoped the Kota Kemuning assemblyman would be able to voice out the concerns of the constituents in Parliament and improve the area.
Freelance interior designers Doris Chew, 56, and Ng Sew Woon, 51, said they attended a PH ceramah near their residence to get to know Ganabatirau.
“We don’t know him but we trust that PH has a good reason for choosing him instead of Santiago,” said Chew.
No matter who is PH’s candidate, Ng said they would vote for the coalition because they believed in what PH could offer not just to Klang residents but to all Malaysians.
At his first ceramah on Sunday, Ganabatirau pledged to resolve the flood woes in the constituency and work with all levels of society to overcome the problem.
The two-term Selangor executive councillor urged voters to support a party that would focus on the plight of the people.
