You weren’t ashamed of us when we made you PM, Najib mocks Muhyiddin
FORMER prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak fired another salvo at fellow ex-premier Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, who had said that he was ashamed to be associated with a convict.
“That’s strange. When we supported him to become prime minister, Muhyiddin didn’t feel embarrassed and had no problems being associated with us.
“The fact is, without our support, there was no way he could have become the prime minister for 17 months. Now that we don’t support him, suddenly Muhyiddin is feeling embarrassed and calling us immoral,” he said, in a Facebook post.
Two days ago, Muhyiddin said it was a blessing in disguise for his party, Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) after UMNO announced it would cease cooperating with him.
“There is a blessing when Bersatu does not work with UMNO as Bersatu won’t become entangled in the moral problems plaguing UMNO leaders.
“Personally, I’d be ashamed to be associated with a party that embraces someone who has been convicted by the courts of a serious crime as a boss,” Malaysiakini reported him as saying.
“Scheme of things” Muhyiddin spewing malarkey
On another note, Najib ridiculed the Pagoh MP for accusing UMNO of being power-crazy for dissolving the Johor state legislative assembly.
“Of course. If we were not power crazy, we shouldn’t call for state assembly’s dissolution following the demise of a Bersatu state assemblyman.
“UMNO Johor should have just declared Emergency and indulge in ‘scheme of things’, by trying to get Bersatu leaders to switch their allegiance to UMNO like what someone did in the past,” the Pekan MP jested.
During Muhyiddin’s short-reign, several UMNO leaders accused him of trying to “buy over” UMNO branch and division leaders, so as to co-opt their strength to expand Bersatu’s grassroots network. – Feb 5, 2022
