Selangor/FT PKR leaders told Ezam to STFU

Malaysiakini:

PKR reps tell Ezam to stay out of party affairs

Elected officials from Selangor and Kuala Lumpur PKR have rubbished the words of former senator Ezam Mohd Nor who said he was ready to challenge Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari if the latter is fielded by PKR to defend the Sungai Tua state seat in the coming 15th general election (GE15).

"Let the top of leadership decide (on election candidates) and don't attack anyone," said Hulu Selangor MP June Leow Hsiad Hui. She told Malaysiakini that no outside parties should interfere with PKR's selection of electoral candidates.

Ezam (above), who now leads a loose movement of PKR president Anwar Ibrahim's sympathisers dubbed Gerak 98, said yesterday he wanted to save Selangor from a betrayal just like the Sheraton Move.

He cited the exodus of MPs from PKR to Bersatu led by former PKR deputy president Azmin Ali last year that brought down the previous Pakatan Harapan federal administration.

Leow's words were echoed by Sungai Buloh MP R Sivarasa who said the selection of candidates is solely a matter for the party’s top leadership and, in particular, the president.

"Third parties should stay out.

"Comments attacking the MB of Selangor in this manner are intended to damage the Selangor government and PKR which leads the state government," said Sivarasa.

Ezam, who left Umno in 1998 to be among the founding members of PKR's predecessor Parti Keadilan Nasional, himself left PKR after serving as its Youth Chief and rejoined Umno in 2008.

He was later appointed to the Dewan Negara as a senator by the BN administration and was also briefly president of Parti Generasi Baru (NewGen Party) in 2017.

Yesterday, he claimed there were still some Azmin supporters in PKR and said they have been appointed to key positions including in the Selangor state government. He called on them to step down instead of contesting in the next general election.

Bukit Lanjan assemblyperson Elizabeth Wong Keat Ping said that she did not consider Ezam's views to be worth responding to considering his own history as a party-hopper.

"I don't waste time commenting on the king of frogs," she said.

PKR's Wangsa Maju MP Tan Yee Kew said any voter can give their view on the choice of candidates and that cannot be construed as interfering with the party's selection process.

"No one should be confused that it is the party leadership who makes the decision," she said, in rejection of outside interference.

Pro-Anwar groups want 9 potential Ass-binte sleepers to give GE15 a miss

... in which I penned:

While there is some truth in keeping a suspicious eye on potential Ass-binte's sleepers, Ezam himself is not all that kosher. There is no denying he is eyeing the MB post for himself. But it has to be admitted he is anti-Ass-binte.

Amirudin is course the current MB Selangor and has been known to be Ass-binte's good matey - in fact he was recommended for the MB's post by Ass-binte her-himself when the snake left to be Atuk's Econs Minister (to dilute Guan Eng's FM portfolio). A MB is a very powerful personality in the state and to rule him out of PKR's Selangor lineup for GE15 may be asking for unnecessary trouble.

  2. Sivarasa is a not-so-closet member of the Azmin camp.

Not surprising that he shouts so loudly against the suggestion that those from the Azmin camp should not be retained as PKR candidates for GE15.
