PETALING JAYA: Controversial Perak opposition leader Razman Zakaria has lost his position as the head of PAS’s state chapter.
The PAS central leadership, which met following the conclusion of the party’s muktamar today, announced that party vice-president Idris Ahmad would lead Perak PAS instead.
Perlis menteri besar Shukri Ramli, who earlier failed to win a spot in the 18-member central leadership committee, is also no longer the Perlis PAS chairman, with former Guar Sanji assemblyman Ahmad Ali replacing him.
He was however appointed to the PAS top leadership, along with Razman.
Over in Johor, long-serving leader Mahfodz Mohamed returns to helm the state chapter, replacing Abdullah Husin.
In Sarawak, Arifiriazul Paijo was appointed to replace Jofri Jaraiee as state PAS chief.
Razman has courted controversy on multiple occasions over the last few years over allegations he had made that were deemed slanderous and which he was later forced to apologise and retract.
In January, he apologised to DAP’s Segambut MP and federal minister Hannah Yeoh for claiming she was linked to the Yeoh family of the YTL Corporation Bhd conglomerate.
The month before, he apologised to Teluk Intan MP Nga Kor Ming, also a DAP federal minister, for accusing him of being involved in a parade where some participants had waved the Chinese national flag.
In February 2023, Razman apologised in court to Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim for claiming he had condoned LGBT practices.
