PARLIAMENT | Pasir Gudang MP Hassan Abdul Karim has urged the government to suspend the Human Resources Development Corporation (HRD Corp) chief executive officer (CEO) pending investigations into the government-linked company.

During today’s parliamentary debate, the veteran lawmaker urged Human Resources Minister Steven Sim to act urgently.

“Either suspend him or terminate the management, which is the CEO. This is because he holds two positions: on the board of directors and the investment panel,” he stated.

HRD Corp’s chief executive is Shahul Hamid Shaik Dawood.

HRD Corp is in hot water after the Auditor-General’s Department found that the government entity failed its audit, and Auditor-General Wan Suraya Wan Mohd Radzi in the Auditor-General’s Report 2/2024, recommended that the Human Resources Ministry refer the company to relevant enforcement agencies.

Separately, the Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee revealed that HRD Corp had utilised RM3.77 billion in levies collected from employers for training development programmes for various investments that did not align with its original purpose.
