RPK: Anwar has never promised to free Najib; it’s all embedded in Lokman Adam’s narrative

FUGITIVE blogger Raja Petra Kamarudin (RPK) has surprisingly vindicated Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar from the bashing of Bossku diehards who blamed the latter for not granting a full pardon to the disgraced sixth premier Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

Instead, the opposition-slant mercenary blogger pointed his finger at current UMNO supreme council member Datuk Lokman Noor Adam as the person who made the promise that “Najib would be a free man within one week after the new PM took oath of office”.

“As it is, people are angry with PH (Pakatan Harapan) and Anwar because of Lokman’s promise for neither UMNO, PKR nor DAP leaders, including Anwar and Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi (UMNO president), mentioned a word about freeing Najib,” the self-exiled RPK pointed out in a recent video clip from his residence in Manchester, UK.

“Anwar has never promised even once to get the Yang di-Pertuan Agong (YDPA) to grant Najib a royal pardon when he becomes PM. The one who made such promise is Lokman prior to the 15th General Election (GE15). He did not specify who was going to be the PM but just the new PM.

“Anwar on his part has never confirmed Lokman’s statement or entertain his (Lokman’s) declaration that Najib can return to his home a week after the new PM’s appointment.”

Recapping the whole episode, RPK claimed that Lokman who is also the UMNO communications director has also condemned both of Anwar’s predecessors Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob for their reluctance or not rendering any assistance to free Najib during their tenure.

For example, Ismail Sabri was forewarned that if he refused to dissolve Parliament for a new PM to be appointed, UMNO’s disciplinary committee would take action against the then UMNO vice-president and sacked him from the party.

As for PH supporters who blamed Anwar for putting all the effort by the previous PH administration in vain by granting Najib a discounted sentence, RPK clarified that such decision was the “sole discretion” of the then Agong Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah on “compassionate grounds”.

“In all fairness, the Pardons Board has recommended to the Agong to maintain Najib’s jail term of 12 years and RM210 mil in fine (instead of reducing them to six years and RM50 mil respectively),” added the controversial blogger who has been on the rum from Malaysian police since 2009. – Feb 14, 2024
