Noh will not be fielded, to play supporting role
Former Selangor BN chief Noh Omar said he will not be fielded in the upcoming state elections and will instead play a supporting role.
Speaking on the sidelines of the Perikatan Nasional campaign launch in Bangi, Selangor, last night, Noh said he plans to tour the state to stump for the opposition.
"I think (I've had) enough for now, and I want to make way for new faces because Selangor has a lot of credible young leaders for us to put forward.
"However, I will be joining the campaign to continue my mission to defeat Pakatan Harapan in Selangor, a mission that began since BN lost the state in 2008," he said, according to Sinar Harian.
Noh said he believed PN had a good chance of winning in Selangor because there were unlikely to be multi-corner contests in the upcoming election.
"That is why when I was the (Selangor) Umno head before, I told the leadership that we must ensure there are no three-corner fights in Selangor between BN, Harapan and PAS," he said.
In early 2022, Noh launched an intensive lobby for the Umno leadership to allow a BN-PAS pact just for Selangor. That did not materialise because the Umno leadership was at odds with PAS for favouring Bersatu.
Between December last year and January this year, Noh was sacked from Umno alongside Khairy Jamaluddin and Annuar Musa. Only Noh and Annuar have officially declared that they were backing PN.
