Warisan staying out of coming election in six states
Shafie admits to not having the machinery
KOTA KINABALU — May 11, 2023: Sabah’s Parti Warisan will not contest in the six state elections expecte to be held next month but will instead support candidates put up by the federal unity government.
The party led by former federal minister and chief minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal did poorly in the November general elections, losing all 26 contests in the peninsula while winning only three federal seats in Sabah.
Shafie however doesn’t think so, pointing out that some of his candidates did well, with some getting up to 4,000 votes.
“It is not that we cannot contest but we want to show our sincerity, ” remarked Shafie at a Hari Raya gathering, adding that while Warisan had support it did not have the machinery.
