PETALING JAYA: Najib Razak has questioned the reluctance of Pakatan Harapan (PH) to cancel its political agreement (MoU) with Ismail Sabri Yaakob’s government despite making criticisms of Putrajaya on a daily basis.

Najib said the opposition coalition would accuse the current administration of being incompetent, corrupt, and racist, among other faults, yet did not want to scrap its pact despite being told to do so.

“They still want to back a government they criticise, one which they also say cannot manage inflation. Are you guys out of your minds?” he said in a Facebook post this evening.

He also took a swipe at PH for mocking Barisan Nasional (BN) by referring to its acronym as meaning “Barang Naik” when making criticisms about rising prices.

Najib said there was no BN in Britain or the US where the inflation rate has surged past 9%, the highest in the last 40 years.

The PH agreement with Ismail called for some political reforms to be carried out by the government. In return the opposition will support the government through the Covid-19 pandemic and economic recovery.

However, PH has faced criticism for clinging to the agreement out of fear of early elections, which some in Umno, including Najib have been advocating.

  1. Najib Talk Cock as usual.
The MOU in no way prevents normal Opposition functions , which is to hold the Government accountable , highlighting defects in Government policy and actions or inactions.

In the aftermath of the 2020 political crisis, the PN/BN government had a razor thin majority which could be threatened by party political maneuvering as well as individual MPs grandstanding.
The MOU arose from a recognition by PH that it Malaysia would be impossible to govern with the Government daily looking over its shoulder wondering if it would fall by the end of the day, or resorting to premature elections.

Holding premature General Elections in the Covid-19 would be an exercise in self-destruction. On top of the current onerous Inflation and economic slowdown.

Australia carried out a General Elections recently with virtually no Covid-19 impact, but Malaysia is not Australia. I can almost guarantee you a General Election campaign and actual election in Malaysia will lead to a major spike in Covid-19 cases.
