Rivals ‘using’ Lokman to ruin judge with sexual harassment claim, says lawyer

PETALING JAYA: The lawyer representing Syariah chief judge Mohd Na’im Mokhtar believes former Umno leader Lokman Noor Adam is being “used” by certain parties to tarnish his client’s reputation with a sexual harassment allegation.
Na’im’s lawyer, Akberdin Abdul Kader, said these individuals had also “orchestrated” the whole incident by “using the lady” to get his client removed from his position.
In a police report last month, a married woman claimed that she found the judge naked in her bedroom when he visited her home in August 2020.
Lokman’s Facebook video on Monday detailing the allegations has now seen him being issued with a letter of demand for defamation by Akberdin’s firm, with the lawyer telling FMT that he was confident the former Umno man was not working alone.
Na’im denied the sexual harassment allegation in a police report he lodged yesterday, during which he also called for police to take action against Lokman.
Stating that there were those in his department who wanted to topple him and seize his position, Na’im also provided the police with the names of these individuals.
“Our focus is on Lokman, and depending on how far we will go next, we will then decide on the next course of action,” said Akberdin when asked if his client planned on suing the individuals.
“There are people who are jealous of him. He (Na’im) rose to the top very fast and he bypassed these people, so they are jealous.
“We will prepare the writ of summons next week and then through that, we will get more details on who used him (Lokman).
“We are still studying who is behind these allegations, and later on when he (Lokman) wants to settle, we will ask him for more details as per the terms of our settlement.”
In a police report filed last month, the complainant, a 57-year-old woman whose husband was bedridden at that time, claimed that Na’im visited her family home close to midnight in August 2020 and asked permission to use the master bedroom to perform his prayers.
In her complaint, she said she was concerned when the man remained in the bedroom for a long time and decided to check on him and was shocked to find him sleeping naked on her bed.
Akberdin claimed the individuals had previously tried to topple Na’im by implicating him with another woman, but the attempt was unsuccessful.
“His reputation has been terribly damaged, so we have to act fast and show our force,” said Akberdin.
“Lokman has no proof or evidence. My client holds such a high position that Lokman has to make sure that he is telling the truth and nothing but the truth.”

Wow, lawyer Akberdin Abdul Kader representing the Syariah Chief Judge Mohd Na’im Mokhtar, accuses rivals of the Chief Judge, those in his department, of wanting to topple poor sweet innocent Na'im so as to seize his (Chief Judge) position.
Wow again, Na’im also provided the police with the names of these individuals (in his departments) - wonder who's next in line to be Chief of the Syariah Courts?
The above comedy reminds me of Tun Abas Salleh being "done by" his own deputy in a tribunal - cui bono? Wakakaka.
The entire sorry episode was the work of then-PM Mahathir, then displeased by judicial rulings in 1987 that almost eff-ed up his PM aspirations (and when/where Ku Li could have become the PM we wanted but didn't have) and in general were adverse to his one-man-rule policy interests.

Many know Tun Salleh as the Chief Justice who suffered kezaliman at the hands of Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad. At that time, Parliament and the Judiciary were subservient to the Executive and anyone who challenged this authoritarian power of the Prime Minister suffered retribution, His Majesty Yang di-Pertuan Agong and the Raja-Raja Melayu included.
What many may not be aware of, however, is that while Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah may be the engineer of PETRONAS, Tun Salleh was its architect.
According to the Federal Constitution of Malaysia, natural resources found in the states belonged to the various states, and this would include oil and gas. When oil and gas was discovered in Terengganu around the early 1970s, Prime Minister Tun Razak Hussein wanted to bring it under federal government control. But this would be a violation of the Federal Constitution of Malaysia and the 1957 Merdeka Agreement or 1948 Federation Agreement.
Tun Salleh was the man tasked with the job of drafting the Petroleum Development Act 1974 that would allow the Federal Government to nationalise oil and gas. To achieve this, a national oil company was set up by Act of Parliament and this company, PETRONAS, need not even report to Parliament (although Parliament created it). It need only to report to the Prime Minister.
When Mahathir terminated the 5% royalty payment to Terengganu in 1990, Tun Salleh campaigned against what he declared an illegal act and a violation of an Act of Parliament. He urged the Terengganu government to take the matter to court, which they did.
Tun Salleh was appalled at how Mahathir could violate a legally binding agreement signed between Petronas and Terengganu State, plus ignore an Act of Parliament, the Petroleum Development Act 1974, that made it mandatory for Petronas to make a 5% royalty payment to the state. The money meant for Terengganu was instead diverted to Umno.
In short, Mahathir robbed the Terengganu people of tens of billions of Ringgit and diverted the money to Umno for the use of the party. And yet Mahathir can attack Najib Tun Razak and accuse him of diverting 1MDB’s money to Umno for the use of the party. The hypocrisy is so thick you can cut it with a knife.
Well, apart from being the shameless hypocrite he has been known to be/still is, he also hates Najib with a toxic venomous bitter invincibility, chiefly for not helping poor darling Boi-Boi Mukhriz ascend in the UMNO hierarchy.
Anyway, back to our Syariah bigwigs - even in the Halls of God's Judges there are, as alleged by Na'im's lawyer and himself, flabbergasting treachery, greed and unbridled lust for power.
Again, I am reminded of two other circles of supposedly holy but treacherous and power-crazy groups, the Vatican and the Sanhedrin, where the latter were dominated by the Sadducees (priests of Judaism; the other priestly group were the ultra-fanatical hadith*-fatwa*-loving Pharisees), whose rivalry, inner treachery, Machiavellianism and power crazy kerbau's were scary, revolting and disgustingly astonishing (considering they were/are priest).

Wakakaka, the Malaysian Syariah group now joins the Vatican and Sanhedrin in their notoriety as Master Machiavellian practitioners.
