KUALA LUMPUR – Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan took a swipe at his Muafakat Nasional counterpart, saying PAS would not be able to stay in power without Umno.

Taking to Twitter, Mohamad said that PAS would not have a presence in Putrajaya without Umno.

“In fact, PAS knows that without Umno, they can’t stay in the federal government after the general elections,” he tweeted.

He also rubbished allegations that the upcoming Johor polls were triggered due to the presence of factions in the party.

Mohamad maintained that the Johor election is a strategic decision.

“The Johor menteri besar has his own reasons to get a new mandate and it is not the business of other parties to question it.

“Alleging that there are clusters within the party is unreasonable and a fabrication by Umno’s enemies,” he added.

He assured that Umno is a party for all, and not one controlled by a small group.

Mohamad said that when Umno pulled its support for former Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, only 12 MPs from the party toed the line.

“That’s how democratic Umno is,” he added.

Pointing out that Umno is the largest Malay party in the country, the party’s recent rise was in no way due to PAS, but the support of the Malays and the failures of the Perikatan Nasional and Pakatan Harapan governments.

“If PAS feels Barisan Nasional is no longer relevant, let the people decide, then.

“Let the people also decide if PAS and PN are relevant,” he said. – The Vibes, January 29, 2022
