Dewan Rakyat: Tajuddin disrupts Hannah Yeoh’s queries, gets mocked; called by Netizens a 'sakai'
Dewan Rakyat: Tajuddin disrupts Hannah Yeoh’s queries, gets mocked
RECENTLY, the Dewan Rakyat held a special session to discuss the recent floods which inundated parts of Malaysia last month, leaving trails of destruction and several deaths.
However, it seems that the Government was not that interested in providing answers on what caused the delay in providing help to flood victims, with the notoriously belligerent Pasir Salak MP Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman causing a ruckus at the august house.
Yesterday, in a viral clip posted by Astro Awani, Segambut MP Hannah Yeoh attempted to grill Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Special Functions) Datuk Dr Abdul Latiff Ahmad on why the National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA) failed to respond promptly to the disaster.
“I think we must discuss on NADMA’s authority on managing natural disaster as the agency comes under the Prime Minister’s Department,” she said.
However, before she could continue with her statement, Tajuddin stood up and raised his voice, accusing Yeoh of trying to “bully the minister”.
“He is trying to answer but you people are trying to bully him. It’s not fair. He is trying to answer every question but you’re bullying him. Enough of this,” he lashed out.
Despite Yeoh’s numerous attempts to get Abdul Latiff to answer her questions, Tajuddin kept interrupting her, with Deputy Dewan Rakyat Speaker Datuk Mohd Rashid Hasnon seemingly unable to stop him.
“What quality do you have? Bullying the minister. Always blame the Government,” Tajuddin shouted.
However, other Pakatan Harapan MPs started rallying behind Yeoh, with Bukit Katil MP Mohd Shamsul Iskandar Md Akin telling Tajuddin not to act like the Abdul Latiff’s lawyer.
“Why not Pasir Salak replace the minister?” Jelutong MP RSN RSN Rayer shot back.
And when Abdul Latiff did get time to respond to Yeoh’s queries, Tajuddin again interrupted the session by accusing Pakatan leaders of being failures during their 22-months in power.
“Were you guys any better when running the Government?” the former deputy minister asked.
Tajuddin then took pot shots at Shah Alam MP Khalid Samad and accused him of being lacklustre when serving as Federal Territories Minister.
However, Khalid remarked with a jest, offering “condolences” to the UMNO MP for not getting appointed to become Malaysia’s ambassador to Indonesia, in which an agitated Tajuddin retorted by saying “shut up” repeatedly.
“Pasir Salak, don’t get angry. You will end up with heart attack,” Shamsul stated, with a grin.
Uncouth Tajuddin
Keeping composed all the while, Yeoh then went back to her question, asking Abdul Latiff to explain his earlier statement on NADMA’s authority.
But again Tajuddin stood up, this time telling the minister not to entertain the DAP leader’s questions and wrap up, which was not his call to make as the authority lies with the Speaker of House.
Taking offence to Tajuddin’s attempt to usurp the Speaker’s authority, Rayer shot back asking: “Is Pasir Salak the Speaker now?”, before the three-minute video ended.
On that note, several netizens praised Yeoh for keeping her composure while Tajuddin went on his tirade.
Echoing Lady Syafinaz’s sentiments, user Shithappens added: “Superb. Very clear for all to see who is calm and composed. Who has standards and who hasn’t. Who has proper upbringing and who hasn’t. Who is educated and who isn’t. Most importantly who is the true sakai (uncouth).”
Netizen Farah Zain stated: “No surprised he was rejected by Indonesia.” – Jan 22, 2022
