Zahid blocks no-confidence motion against Negeri Sembilan MB

Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said if there was any truth to the claim of a no-confidence motion, ‘I will ensure it does not happen’.

PETALING JAYA:

Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi tonight said he would not allow Negeri Sembilan Umno to table a no-confidence motion against menteri besar Ismail Lasim at the coming state assembly meeting.

Zahid said he had not heard of such plans, “But if there is any truth to the claim, I will ensure it does not happen,” Berita Harian quoted him as saying.

Earlier today FMT reported a source as saying that Negeri Sembilan Umno is considering a motion of no confidence against Ismail, adding that the state chapter’s chief Jalaluddin Alias would table the motion.

The decision however rests with the central Umno leadership.

According to the source, a new state executive council lineup might also be announced if the move to table a no-confidence vote against Ismail were to proceed.

The next meeting of the state assembly is scheduled to begin on Nov 26, having been postponed from Oct 16 to align with the tabling of the state budget for 2027 the following day.

Jalaluddin has since denied the claims, saying no discussions regarding the matter had taken place.

“It is untrue. Why would I do such a thing?” the Pertang assemblyman told FMT, adding that the state administration is running smoothly and there is no leadership crisis.
