Following speculation on social media that political rivals used underhanded tactics to target him, PKR vice-president Amirudin Shari dismissed the claims, stating the party had "plenty of other work to do than to arrange a khalwat case.
Assumption.
The video feed that went viral was taken from a CCTV in the apartments.
This can be easily verified and confirmed.
Considering that in many cases, malfunction of the CCTV is the norm and often cited excuses especially when that footage is critical for transparency, safety, or legal evidence.
Nik Nazmi can always demand and insist to check the maintenance logs of those CCTVs, check when the camera was last serviced, if previous faults were reported, and if the system had a history of issues.
Even if a camera stops recording, forensic IT experts can analyze the hard drives or cloud servers to see if data was manually deleted, if power was intentionally cut, or if a genuine technical error occurred.
Were any of the videos manually edited before it was taken out and went viral?
Who has access to the CCTV feeds?
The security office and the management office?
Were official requests made to the management office for access and to have copies of the feeds from the CCTV?
If yes, who made the requests?
Were the 5 officers from JAIS who conducted the raid was present when the request was made to the management office for copies of the feed or just one or 2 of them was present?
Be that as it may, why the swiftness of his admission on 17 October 2026 without asking all these questions and that he was not `targeted’ to derail his plans with Bersama?
Unless it was not a "lapse in judgment" but rather than an ongoing affair.
The speed of the admission appears to be an attempt to get ahead of the narrative and limit public speculation for if the matter is prolonged, there is a possibility that it might lead to more speculation and the expose of a possible long-term arrangement.
While there is no public confirmation identifying who tipped off the authorities, the Selangor Islamic Religious Council (MAIS) has officially stated that the JAIS raid was initiated due to a formal complaint.
Political Sabotage? Political rivals or "jealous quarters" may have deployed spies to monitor Nik Nazmi's movements, waiting for an opportune moment to file a complaint and orchestrate a political blow to his leadership of Parti Bersama Malaysia?
MAIS chairman strongly pushed back against the political sabotage narrative, affirming that JAIS acted strictly on an official, procedural complaint and did not manipulate the situation to target the former minister.
The "Spouse Informant" Theory. In many khalwat cases in Malaysia, raids are frequently triggered by an estranged or suspicious spouse who tracks a partner's movements.
Could it be the woman's husband (or a close relative) may have tip-offed JAIS to catch them in close proximity?
Looks like Nik Nazmi has to lie in the bed he make.
