Kelantan cops nab man over alleged sexual abuse of cat

The man was arrested in Pasir Puteh after a police report was lodged yesterday, say police.

Pasir Puteh police chief Saari Yaacob urged the public not to reshare the video out of respect for public sensitivities and to prevent the spread of inappropriate content.

Police have arrested a man in Pasir Puteh, Kelantan, over a video on social media allegedly showing him sexually abusing a cat at his residence.

Pasir Puteh police chief Saari Yaacob said they received a report about a video posted on Threads yesterday.

“The case is being investigated under Section 377 of the Penal Code (for bestiality) and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 (improper use of network services),” he said in a statement today.

Saari advised the public not to speculate, spread accusations or share unverified information on the matter.

“The public is also urged not to reshare the video out of respect for public sensitivities and to prevent the spread of inappropriate content,” he said.

Yesterday, Persatuan Haiwan Terbiar Malaysia president Kalaivanan Ravichandran called for a probe into the alleged sexual abuse of a cat and for the authorities to identify those involved, verify the footage and secure all digital evidence.

He said immediate priority must also be given to locating the cat and ensuring its safety. There was no mention of the condition of the cat in the police statement.
