SABAH Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation Datuk Dr Mohd Arifin Mohd Arif denied allegations linking his daughter to the tragic incident involving the late Zara Qairina Mahathir, recently.
He said that while the late Zara was being treated in the hospital, he, along with the education director general and his entourage, visited the student's mother.
"First of all, I would like to state that while she was being treated in the hospital, I, along with the education director general visited and met her mother.
“Secondly, four days after the Zara Qairina's death, I, along with my entourage from Yayasan Sabah and Sindumin ADUN, went to Sipitang to convey condolences from the Chief Minister.
“I read in the media regarding the claim that there is a person named Farisha, my daughter. Actually, I do not have a child with that name and none of my children study at the secondary school in question,” he said.
Arifin, who is also the state exco for education and religion, said he also prayed for the deceased and for her family to be strong in facing the test.
"We are waiting for the results of the police investigation. We will not compromise on what happened to this student, and we ask that an open investigation be carried out for the sake of justice," he added. - August 9, 2025
