Police are still probing the motive behind the murder - August 18, 2025
POLICE believe the college student found hanging from a ceiling fan in her Subang Jaya home last Thursday was murdered by a known acquaintance.
District police chief Wan Azlan Wan Mamat said police had since recorded 12 statements to assist their investigations.
"We are still probing the motive behind the murder and believe the the suspect was someone who the victim knew," he said.
It was earlier reported that a post-mortem conducted by a forensic pathologist at Hospital Serdang concluded that the cause of death was bleeding around the hyoid bone in the neck, consistent with manual strangulation.
"The injuries to the victim's muscles and bones were caused by manual strangulation," Wan Azlan said on Sunday.
"Based on these findings, the case is now being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder."
