Uncle Kentang has stepped forward to express his concern over the recent tragic incidents involving students from Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology (TAR UMT).

He shared an emotional message on Facebook, urging students not to give up on life and assuring them of his full support whenever they face challenges.
A message of comfort and support

Uncle Kentang, whose real name is Kuan Chee Heng, said he was saddened to hear about TAR UMT students ending their lives.

He reminded them that he is always ready to help, whether it is for studies, family issues, or financial struggles.

I am your companion. Although I am older, if you face problems in studies, family or finances, you can always come to me.”

He emphasized that students should not be afraid to reach out if they lack money for studies, face health problems in their families, or encounter difficulties in school.

“If you have no money to continue your studies, if your mother is sick, or if your family is struggling, please don’t be afraid. Failing exams is not the end, you can always try again,” he said in a video.
Encouraging students to reach out quietly

He reassured students that they do not need to make their struggles public.

Instead, they can quietly seek his help.

“Every day, I pray for a longer life, so I can continue supporting all of you,” he added.

Uncle Kentang also offered practical help, such as transport for classes, financial aid, and even support for those who want to retake their exams.

A reminder to value life and parents’ love

In his message, he reminded students of the sacrifices their parents made, from pregnancy until their education.

He pleaded with them not to end their lives but to give themselves and their parents another chance.

From the day you were in your mother’s womb, she protected you carefully. She endured months of hardship to bring you into this world. Please don’t end your life so easily. Give your parents a chance, and give yourself a chance too.”

He said, “Life is not a race. It is a journey to be taken step by step. When you feel helpless, please remember to contact me.”
