KUALA LUMPUR – At least one person died and another injured after a massive tree fell along Jalan Sultan Ismail here, near Shangri-La Hotel.
KL Fire and Rescue Department’s assistant operation director M. Fatta M. Amin added that 17 vehicles were damaged in the incident as well.

“Two victims were removed from their cars. However, the first victim, a 47-year-old man, died at the scene.
“The second victim, a man aged 26, sustained injuries and was handed to the paramedics,” it said in a statement.
The fallen tree also destroyed a bus stop. Currently, 27 rescuers are at the scene.

Rail operator Rapid KL confirmed the incident in a Facebook post, saying there would be service delays between the Bukit Nanas and Raja Chulan stations.
Police are controlling the traffic situation along Jalan Sultan Ismail.
The rail operator added that there will be no Monorail service between KL Sentral and Medan Tuanku stations.

Instead, a shuttle bus service will ply the KL Sentral-Medan Tuanku route. There is also an alternative Monorail between Titiwangsa and Medan Tuanku (Platform 1) stations.
