In KKB, Hadi warns Umno supporters of DAP's Singapore-like threat

KKB BY-ELECTION | PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang launched his trademark tirade against DAP during his maiden appearance on the campaign trail in the Kuala Kulu Baharu poll.

Speaking at Perikatan Nasional’s “Ceramah Perdana” in Batang Kali last night, he cautioned Umno members and supporters in Selangor not to repeat the mistake of losing political power like what transpired in Singapore.

Born of Singapore’s People’s Action Party (PAP), he described DAP as an “extremist” outfit which seeks to seize political power subtly, which can lead to disturbances in the nation.

Turning the clock back, the Marang MP recalled how PAS, Umno, MCA, and MIC held discussions on several important matters regarding the formation of Malaysia.

“During the discussion, we (PAS) stressed that based on the political environment in Malaysia, Islam should be made the religion of the federation while there is freedom of religion for others.

“The rights of the bumiputera, Malay rights, Bahasa Melayu as the national language, these are in the Federal Constitution. Citizenship for other races and their political rights are enshrined in the Constitution as well.

“Then DAP came to cause trouble. DAP was born of Lee Kuan Yew’s PAP. During the formation of Malaysia, Singapore was part of it and PAP opened branches in Malaysia.

“DAP has an agenda to obtain political power in a subtle and slick manner,” he was quoted as saying by Harakah Daily.

‘Races cannot be eradicated’

Hadi said in the 1950s, the deputy chief minister of Singapore was Abdul Hamid Jumat, who founded the Singapore division of Umno but as time passed, Malays lost their political power in Singapore and DAP is “orchestrating similar political steps” in Malaysia.

“It is clear that DAP has a ‘Malaysian Malaysia’ agenda - no race, all are bangsa Malaysia when the different races are the creation of Allah.

“Races cannot be eradicated. Allah allows us to love our race, families, and communities but we cannot be fanatics. DAP brings a new approach, to destroy the concept of race, to destroy nature and the creation of Allah.

“This will result in tensions. Islam is the religion of the federation. (But) DAP is working on equating Islam with other faiths. This is the reason Icerd (International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination) surfaced, which we protested against.

“Towards destroying Islam’s power. This is DAP’s struggle,” he added, reminding Malay and Muslim voters of the dangers of the “chauvinist and ultra kiasu” political party.

PN is seeking to win over the votes of Umno supporters to foil DAP’s bid to retain the Kuala Kubu Baharu state seat for a fourth term.

  1. Singaporean Malays earn a First World standard of living, albeit with some inconveniences related to a very high density population and high cost.

Many Kelantanese Melayu work in Singapore for its economic opportunities.

Hadi is just shit stirring Race and Religion politics.
