Why was your farewell message to our outgoing 16th Agong missing, my dear Bersatu president?

A CHEEKY netizen who could probably be a cybertrooper in disguise has questioned Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin as to why a farewell message from him to the outgoing Yang di-Pertuan Agong (YDPA) Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah was missing from his social media platform.

“Why wasn’t there a final message from you to Al-Sultan Abdullah?” wondered Ahmad Nazir Mohd Azmi in reaction to the Pagoh MP’s heartfelt congratulatory Facebook (FB) poster to Johor ruler Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar in conjunction with his installation as the 17th Agong effective yesterday (Jan 31).

“As the Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman, why didn’t you come out with a farewell message as a mark of final respect for our 16th Agong? There wasn’t any message on your FB and IG (Instagram). Why is that so?”

Interestingly, fugitive blogger Raja Petra Kamarudin (RPK) had in recent times painted a gloomy picture of the relationship between Bersatu and the National Palace especially towards the tail-end of the Pahang ruler’s reign.

Apparently, if ever what was said by the opposition-slant mercenary blogger can be accepted as gospel truth, there seemed to be some rift between PN (in particular Bersatu) and Sultan Abdullah who was steadfast in not entertaining another change of government in the last-ditch attempt to convince the then Agong that there were at least 120 MPs who had lost confidence in Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

On the other hand, PAS seemed to be able to preserve its cordial ties with the National Palace with its deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man having penned his fond memories with Sultan Abdullah that spanned five years since January 2019.

“Knowing Al-Sultan Abdullah, His Majesty was very careful before making major decisions involving the country. His Majesty would seek the views of all parties, including Ulama (Islamic scholars) and legal advisers,” the Kubang Kerian MP penned on his FB page.

“I am not wrong to say that, throughout the period of His Majesty’s tenure as the 16th YDPA from Jan 31, 2019 to Jan 30 this year, His Majesty and the Queen Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah had succeeded in becoming the king of hearts among Malaysians.”

Once again, Tuan Ibrahim’s tribute has prompted netizen in Hadzil Ahmad to pass the following comment on his FB page:

“If indeed your words are true and sincere, then YDPA Al-Sultan Abdullah’s actions and decisions in the appointment of the 10th Malaysian PM was correct,” asserted netizen,

“So it is only right for you to bring the entire troop of PN MPs to support PMX while further strengthening the position of Muslim MPs with PMX. This is the right and commendable action that will certainly be greatly appreciated by all the Malay rulers.” – Feb 1, 2024
