Actor urges public to watch full discussion on podcast to understand its context

KUALA LUMPUR – Popular actor and businessman Datuk Rosyam Nor has issued an apology for a controversial statement he made about prostitution dens for migrant workers.

He said it was not solely his statement as it was part of a discussion on the Hitam Putih Kehidupan podcast titled “Otak Porno.”

“There has been a lot of fuss in the last couple of days about the statement I had apparently made on the issue of prostitution dens and brothels.

“Anyway, I apologise because I didn’t expect this to become a big issue and go viral,” he said in a short video posted on his Instagram account today.

He also urged the public to watch the full video of the programme to better understand the context of the discussion.

The programme discussed pornography addiction in Malaysia with psychologist Aiman Amri as a guest. It was also hosted by Datin Seri Adzliana Hasan.

Previously, Rosyam sparked controversy with his opinion regarding legalising brothels in Malaysia.

He was reported as saying that such services could potentially contribute to a reduction in the increasing number of rape cases involving migrant workers.

Among those who have criticised his opinions are Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Mohd Na’im Mokhtar, Penang Mufti Datuk Seri Wan Salim Wan Mohd Noor, and many others. – January 9, 2024

  1. "Comfort Women" strategy.

The Imperial Japanese Army knew it was effective, in its dark and objectionable way.
