Don’t hide behind 3R matters, says party veep Datuk Seri Ti Lian Ker

PETALING JAYA – MCA took DAP to task today, claiming the party has been “silent as a mouse” on many pertinent issues.

Its vice-president Datuk Seri Ti Lian Ker, said DAP ministers in cabinet have chosen to sidestep all issues “Chinese” because such matters are sensitive, and raising them will not augur well for DAP as a political party wooing Malay support and acceptance.

“Worst still, DAP’s Deputy Communications and Digital Minister Teo Nie Ching, who was an ultra-spokeswoman for the party in the past on Chinese issues, is now supporting the (apparent) clamping down on media freedom.

“She is conveniently using the 3Rs as an excuse to sweep all pertinent issues and policies under the carpet.

“This is exactly what happened when many decisions that were unfair to the minorities were introduced back in the 1970s and 1980s but could not be publicly challenged or debated because of the blanket ban on these issues labelled as ‘sensitive’,” he said.

To be fair to their supporters, Ti said DAP should come out openly to refute Malaysia’s ambassador to the United States Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz’s statement reducing DAP to one that merely replaces MCA and MIC.

Nazri had earlier said that Umno and BN have to accept the fact of working with DAP to attract non-Malay support.

This is because DAP is now the party that represents the non-Malays in the country today, not MIC or MCA, said the Umno supreme council member.

“Don’t hide behind the 3Rs and be ‘silent like a mouse’.

“Be transparent, and don’t forget what you promised to your supporters when you were in the opposition.” – The Vibes, August 8, 2023
