KUALA LUMPUR – The ‘confirmation’ that Pasir Salak MP Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman has received an invitation from Istana Negara to receive his letter of appointment as Malaysia’s ambassador to Indonesia is inaccurate.
A source told The Vibes’ Bahasa Melayu sister portal Getaran that the backbencher chief will receive his letter of appointment from the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah but it will not be today.
The source, who requested anonymity, said that the ceremony has been postponed to an unknown date by Istana Negara.
“It is true that he (Tajuddin) will receive his letter of appointment as an ambassador with other representatives to other nations but the ceremony will not be held today.
“The ceremony has been postponed and we don’t know the date it will take place. I hope everyone can be patient and wait for the official statement in the near future,” he said.
Getaran had tried to contact Tajuddin for confirmation but up till now the Umno Supreme Council member had not given any response.
Earlier, Tajuddin had confirmed that he received the invitation to Istana Negara for his official appointment to Indonesia.
Apparently, the king had originally scheduled the appointment ceremony for Tajuddin and four other ambassadors at around 2pm today.
“Yes, I can confirm it. I have received the invitation from the Yang di-Pertuan Agong to receive the letter of appointment as an ambassador tomorrow (today),” he reportedly said by local media.
The other ambassadors who were supposed to receive their appointments include the ambassadors to Japan, Saudi Arabia, Iran and South Korea.
Getaran’s efforts to find out the reason behind the ceremony being postponed were fruitless because the source refused to divulge anything further.
However, it was understood that it stemmed from the King’s treatment for his foot, where he is being examined by medical specialists in a hospital here.
Istana Negara’s Comptroller Datuk Indera Ahmad Fadil Shamsuddin said that His Majesty’s health is in good condition and there is nothing to worry about.
“Therefore, the programme that was scheduled today and all programmes in the near future involving His Majesty has been postponed to a date that will be announced later.
“His Majesty is scheduled to return to Istana Negara soon, once he has completed his treatment,” he said. – The Vibes, June 20, 2022

This seems Malaysia's on-going problem. Even such an event of Tahi-yuddin's receiving the letter of appointment supposedly postponement is now sounding so mysterious and sinister.
ReplyDeleteWhy can't an official announcement be made by the relevant party eg PM's office or the Royal Palace about the date of the conferment and if any, the postponement and the reason for the postponement.
For a moment I thought sanity prevailed and that the decision to appoint Tahi-yuddin ambassador was being rescinded.
Perhaps there is a flicker of hope....
Tajuddin was a disaster as Prasarana Chairman.
