Rebel accuses Hadi of bulldozing PAS' entry into PN

Kuala Nerus MP Khairuddin Aman Razali has accused PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang of bulldozing the party's entry into Perikatan Nasional (PN).

Khairuddin, who has openly rebelled against Hadi for steering PAS closer to Bersatu under PN, over Umno under Muafakat Nasional, claimed the party president's move did not follow due process.

"The founding of PN did not abide by the party's constitution. It was only done with a signature from the party president and advice from two or three persons.

"The agreement (to form PN) was made without going through a central working committee, nor was there a paper sent to the PAS central committee or syura council to be debated in accordance with the concept of maqasid syariah.

"There was no agreement (consent from the party), but yet it was approved," he said during an interview on Bernama TV last night.

PAS is a founding member of PN.

‘Rigorous process to set up Muafakat’

In contrast, Khairuddin said the party’s electoral pact with Umno under Muafakat underwent a rigorous process.

"Muafakat was part of the party's policy. The policy went through a rigorous process with a working paper at the central working committee level before it was brought to the syura council.

"The syura council then approved it and it was brought to the muktamar (general assembly) twice in 2018 and 2019 before Muafakat was finally formed.

"This was an example of due process in the party, but what happened with PN?" Khairuddin asked.

PN first started as an informal coalition between Bersatu and opposition parties in February 2020, when Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin pulled his party out of Pakatan Harapan to form a new ruling coalition.

Muhyiddin later sought to formalise the coalition by registering PN but BN parties refused to join.

PN, led by Bersatu, and BN led by Umno, have clashed in the Malacca and Johor state elections, with the former suffering setbacks.

PAS spiritual leader Hashim Jasin

Khairuddin yesterday revealed he quit PAS after he was sidelined for being critical of Hadi's direction.

Having left the party, Khairuddin also opened up about the controversy prior to his departure, where he was openly accused of being disloyal to Hadi.

The former plantation industries and commodities minister revealed he raised concerns about Hadi's leadership to PAS spiritual leader Hashim Jasin but instead of addressing them, the latter leaked his complaint.

"I complained to the spiritual leader. It was a complaint from a secretary to his spiritual leader, but the complaint was leaked so much so it started a slander against me," he said.

Khairuddin was formerly the syura council secretary but was stripped of all positions after the rebellious position he took.
