Mohamad Hasan: Some Umno leaders plotting internal division
Mohamad: Some Umno leaders plotting internal division
Umno deputy president Mohamad Hasan said there are some leaders within the party who are fond of plotting internal divisions, to the extent of creating "clusters" and camps within the party.
He said such a culture could potentially deter Umno from actualising its potential as the strongest Malay-ruling party.
“On that note, Umno is not running away from internal conflict. It is a normal political movement, and we bite our tongues. This is a political movement with millions of supporters.
“But this cannot be allowed as it will prevent Umno from embodying the great potential it has to become the true political voice of the Malays.
“Unfortunately, we do know that some of us are fond of plotting divisions in Umno, leading to all kinds of factions, ‘clusters’ and camps.
“All of it comes from Umno itself,” he said at the World Trade Center when officiating the annual general meetings for Umno party wings tonight.
Mohamad said it was time for Malays to return to Umno’s care.
In his speech, he said there should be an end to Malays fighting between themselves which could only lead to the detriment of the race, adding that Umno should be the single most influential, strongest and superior platform for Malay politics.
With that, Mohamad, who is also the Rantau assemblyperson, reminded Umno MPs to not lead in pathways that contradict the party leadership.
“Dear beloved representatives (of Umno), I must remind and state that MPs should not decide their own path.
“Let there be no clear contradiction with the stand of party leadership.
“As a party that wants to make a strong comeback, Umno will not allow anyone to forget their responsibilities as an elected representative representing Umno and not just certain groups or leaders,” he said.
