Free water for low-income households if PN wins Johor polls, says Muhyiddin

Perikatan Nasional, led by Muhyiddin Yassin, launched the coalition’s manifesto for the Johor elections this morning.

JOHOR BAHRU: Perikatan Nasional (PN) has pledged to supply up to 20 cubic metres of free water for low-income earners in Johor if it wins the state elections.

In launching the coalition’s manifesto for the Johor polls, PN chairman Muhyiddin Yassin also said micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) will be exempted from any payments for business licences for five years if it were to form the next state government.

Muhyiddin said PN’s pledges were based on seven pillars – corruption-free leadership, strengthening the economy, caring for the people, social welfare, infrastructure efficiency, boosting tourism, and environmental sustainability.

Muhyiddin said the free water to households was one of PN’s efforts to address the high cost of living in the state.

Another measure, he said, was the introduction of a “Prihatin Johor” card for low-income earners to access healthcare, through a takaful scheme. It will also hand out food baskets to vulnerable communities.

He said registered fishermen affected by coastal developments would get special aid while licence and rental fees for stallholders on premises owned by the local councils would be waived.

In addition, Muhyiddin said laptops and cash aid would be given to Johor youths planning to further their studies.

He said premiums for new Felda houses would be fixed at RM1 per sq ft.

Muhyiddin said a PN state government would push for Johor’s land borders with Singapore to be opened up.
