... Zaid Ibrahim is suggesting that Dr Mahathir Mohamad and his former number two bury the hatchet after 17 years of animosity.

This, he said, is to unite the nation and rid it of the current leader.

He also called on the former premier to put aside his personal dislike for Anwar as the latter is better than Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.

Zaid also stated: "I mentioned earlier how Mahathir and (former finance minister) Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah could do wonders if they just sat down together to work out how to save the country. That work would be more effective if Anwar were to join the group."

"Such a triumvirate would ensure the quick disposal of Najib's government because the parliamentary opposition combined with BN would be enough to unseat the prime minister, who is now getting support from some royal houses."

Interesting! Zaid is proposing a triumvirate of Dr M, Anwar and Ku Li, with Ku Li as interim PM to replace Najib for 3 years whence then Anwar will take over.

Recall RPK's SD on the Altantuyaa's murder - can you remember which two parties provided RPK with the contents of that SD and who assured RPK it was reliable?

So, an anti-Najib triumvirate based on the Altantuyaa murder? Wakakaka.

Anyway, Zaid tempts Dr M with an assurance that once Anwar takes over from Ku Li (presumably 3 years after Ku Li becomes PM), Mr Manmanlai the new PM will build our eminence grise's crooked bridge so as "to remind Singapore once in a while that we are able to decide what we want for ourselves."

On that crooked bridge, in 2009 Dr M had already sounded a warning for Najib (but then still an 'advice' for Ah Jib Chai, wakakaka) to continue with his crooked bridge, with TMI reporting:

Dr Mahathir said that since Singapore would only agree to a straight bridge to replace the Causeway if the ban on selling sand was lifted and that considering Johoreans were against the sale, the government’s only option was to build the crooked bridge. […]

Dr Mahathir cited the package of outstanding bilateral issues, including Singapore’s refusal to release CPF contributions to Malaysians, the railway land issue and the low rate in which the island republic pays for water from Malaysia.

“All these issues are in Singapore’s favour and not negotiating better terms because the Johore people refuse to sell sand is like cutting one’s nose to spite one’s face.

Leaving out the rhetoric, Dr M was actually right, but obviously Najib like AAB saw it differently.

As for Anwar, I noted he had then attempted to make his move back to The Mothership or at least for a start, into UMNO's grace during the Scenic or Crooked Bridge affair in April 2006 as I posted in A Bridge Too Far - Anwar Ibrahim.

Now, get this my dear Zaid, Anwar after blaming the whole crooked bridge fiasco on Mahathir (wakakaka) for sending Daim Zainudin to negotiate with former Singapore prime minister Lee Kuan Yew over the terms of the project, openly pontificated: “I would grant the criticism of many that negotiations with Singapore are not always easy. The solution therefore is to send competent people to negotiate. If you send semi-literates to negotiate, we will lose out in the negotiations.”

From that statement, one couldn't be blamed for noting that Anwar deemed Daim Zainuddin a semi-literate (wakakaka) who shouldn't be sent to negotiate with a tough intellectual like Lee Kuan Yew.

Hmmm, I wonder who was the Malaysian ‘intellectual’ Anwar had in mind then who should be sent to negotiate with Lee, wakakaka again. Yes you bet - He was more or less directing his comments for the benefit of the Sultan of Somnabulence.

But then, didn't Zaid also admit that Anwar Ibrahim's fault in the 1998 financial crisis: "... was to swallow hook, line and sinker the prescriptions of the International Monetary Fund as the only solution to manage the crisis."

So who had been the semi-literate? Wakakaka!

After gently chiding AAB for not doing his homework on the matter of the crooked bridge (again Zaid, note this), Anwar poured on luscious honey for AAB by expressing full support for the latter’s decision to abandon the project as a commendable decision, crooning: “It takes a lot of courage and wisdom ... after weeks of massive campaigns against Singapore ... (for Abdullah) to suddenly say that the decision (to build the bridge) was faulty and that we have to scrap the project...it’s commendable.”

Wakakaka, he had then agreed with AAB to abandon the crooked bridge, but then I'm sure he will now be quite capable of agreeing with Dr M on building the bridge - that's the Anwar I know, wakakaka.

Anwar then continued: “I support the decision taken by Abdullah because any responsible leader cannot proceed with a project affecting another country without that sort of arrangement being made.”

“Even if it’s not related to relations between Malaysia and Singapore, you cannot imagine in this modern time any country wanting to undertake a major project - a bridge, highway, whatever - affecting another country, unilaterally. We have condemned the United States for its unilateral decision to invade Iraq, so we can’t seriously proceed in such manner (ourselves).”

I was very much ‘taken’ by Anwar’s opinion that building the scenic or crooked bridge, actually already agreed to by the former Singapore's PM Goh Chok Tong in a letter, would be equivalent to the US invasion of Iraq

Anyway, he continued: “I would not discount any possible meeting with Abdullah [AAB] if he were to ask my views on the issues ... like the negotiations with Singapore on the bridge and even information on the negotiations with Indonesia on border issues.”

Wow, 'I would not discount any possible meeting with Abdullah [AAB] if he were to ask my views on the issues' - very manmanlai, and his offer of international negotiations was not only with Singapore but Indonesia as well. Wakakaka.

OK, I'm very fond of Zaid but I have a few questions, namely:

(a) Who is going to release Anwar from jail?

Until Dr M and Ku Li defeat Najib, Ah Jib Gor is still PM and Anwar remains behind bars. Has Zaid been hoping Anwar will direct his PKR (a now split party) into cooperating with Dr M's portion of BN? But then, that's almost achieved by you-know-who in London, wakakaka, and no doubt talk is still continuing.

(b) quoting Zaid, the quick disposal of Najib's government because the parliamentary opposition combined with BN would be enough to unseat the prime minister I wonder how many in BN will join forces with the parliamentary opposition to defeat Najib? But this has been essentially what Lim KS had proposed much earlier.

(c) Once Ku Li is in the chair, will he be willing to vacate it for Anwar in three years time? And will he even release Anwar from prison? Wakakaka.

(d) Will a future Ku Li build the bridge? Wakakaka.

(e) In the proposed joint operations by BN and Pakatan against Najib, how will a new cabinet be set up?

Apart from Azmin becoming DPM (with blessing from Dr M?) to PM Ku Li, what role will be played by PAS and DAP? Will MCA and Gerakan remain silent? Wakakaka.

Our dear Ibrahim Ali has now claimed that Mahathir is God's gift to all Malaysians and even repudiated Dr Wan's claim.

Both deserve a note in the Malaysian Book of Records, but only after Nik Abduh's flood warning, wakakaka.

The vulnerability of Dr M?

In TMI's Umno today is about money, Dr M fires back at critics I read one of the saddest thing about Dr M.

Dr M is undeniably the toughest PM we ever had, one while as PM and even now as retired senior statesman, took/takes no prisoner. We have seen how he demolished Anwar Ibrahim for the latter's disloyalty to him, and how he single-handedly removed AAB from his PM-ship when Pak Lah didn't continue his (Dr M's) legacy.

Currently he is doing the same to Najib, with the aim of replacing the PM, one he is not satisfied with.

Najib has been called Mr Zig-Zag, a man known for his extraordinary survival skills, so everyone waits to see whether Dr M will succeed in his current campaign against Najib as he had with AAB, because Najib may be a different kettle of fish to Pak Lah.

Dr M is not only a highly intelligent, hardworking and astute politician, but an unique paradox because he has also shown unusual tolerance and forgiving care to those he considers as his loyal subordinates, even if they are professionally incompetent, intellectually lame and conduct-wise, immoral.

But at the bottom of his heart (Asian way of indicating 'mind') he has a very very sad vulnerability which must have tormented him over the decades of his adulthood.

What we might have suspected for years and even cruelly jeered at him but can now confirm, only because he Dr M himself reveals so, is the heavy emotional millstone he wore for the past several decades around his neck, namely his painful awareness of his (biological) non-100%-Malay ethnic origins. Though he didn't mention it, we know his granddad was a Malayalam, hailing from Kerala.

In the above TMI's news, Dr M has been reported as follows:

He also defended his right to criticise Najib, saying that when it came to national and Malay issues, he has the right to talk about them as he considered himself Malay, even though this has been disputed.

“About the country and the Malays, I am here, I am a Malay. Although some people say I am not. Legally I am Malay. I've struggled for this."

Finally that emotional burden has come out of his own mouth that he is a legal Malay and has struggled for his constitutional status.

However, unlike Ridhuan Tee, he had not gone around self-promoting himself as a Melayu. But I can only wonder what stress, strain and suffering he must have endured in silence through the decades because of this emotional vulnerability.

Strangely or should it be, I do not feel any animosity or ill-humour towards him for saying so. Au contraire I feel sad to learn what must have stuck bitterly in his heart for years.

In many other countries people of mixed ancestry live normal lives, and are even admired for their richer heritage. Yours truly for example possesses tomyam in my blood, wakakaka, but I have never felt any burden on my self worth because of my mixed ethnicity.

Look mate, Sultan Muzzafar Shah of the Malacca Sultanate had an Indian wife (daughter of a rich Indian merchant) and thus his son Sultan Mansur Shah was of mixed Indo-Malay parentage.

Since times long ago the Malays have had inter-marriages with Indians so it shouldn't be considered as a stigma, well, an emotional one anyway.

Just as another example, Sultan Muzzafar's grandson, Sultan Mahmud Shah had the hots for, and through a series of murders, eventually married the widow Fatimah, whose husband was 'off-ed' to enable the sultan to get her. Fatimah was the daughter of Tun Mutahir, Malacca' 7th Bendahara (PM). Both Mutahir and daughter Fatimah were Tamil Muslims.

Indian blood not only flows in many Malays but Indians had served as Bendahara in the Malacca Sultanate like Tun Mutahir (7th Bendahara of Malacca) and Tun Ali (4th Bendahara of Malacca). I believe Anwar Ibrahim also has Indian blood in his veins.

I guess I have to blame our politico-socio-cultural environment for 'punishing' Dr M, at least internally-emotionally for, I suppose, decades. It's a vile politico-socio-cultural environment when one's ancestry imposes guilt or lack of self-esteem on oneself.

Is he telling us that UMNO is about money only after his PM tenure? Didn't he, for example in 1998 reveal that both Anwar Ibrahim and Ahmad Zahidi (then in Anwar's camp) enjoyed 'privileges' after the latter attempted to smear his name with allegations of nepotism and corruption, written by RPK as follows:

Umno Youth leader Ahmad Zahid Hamidi raised allegations of nepotism and corruption against the Prime Minister.

Dr Mahathir practically went berserk and retaliated by revealing the names of others who had benefited from government contracts and cheap share allocations, including those friends and family members of Anwar and of Zahid himself.

Also, wasn't Ali Rustam at one stage barred from contesting for an UMNO's VP position because of alleged money politics? Wasn't our dear Selangor dentist convicted? The list can go on and on.

I reckon Dr M has now been driven into mentioning UMNO's money politics as if it's recent because he's damn mad at those UMNO members who said it would be him and not Najib who would bring UMNO down because of his constant attacks against Najib just as he had done against AAB.

In my previous post Char koay teow, Malay style I had stated:

In any case, it can be argued that it has been Dr Mahathir who made UMNO lost its 2/3 in 2008, and not AAB. AAB was the hapless victim of Dr M's continuous very-public criticisms.

Dr M has recently said that Najib will lose the next election for UMNO but on the logic of this post's discussion we can argue that if UMNO were to lose in GE-14, it would be Dr Mahathir who loses it for his party by continuously undermining Najib and thus indirectly UMNO.

I had also stated that Dr M in harassing Najib with the case of Altantuyaa has been motivated by nothing more than Dr M's personal agenda (against Najib for .....?) and has nothing to do with so-called justice for the dead Mongolian woman. I had written:

Najib revealed that in his tete-a-tete with Dr Mahathir, one of two things Dr Mahathir wanted him to do was to revive the “crooked bridge” project linking Johor and Singapore, thus confirming our suspicion on why he undermined AAB to such an extent that UMNO suffered collateral damage in 2008, and from which the party never quite recovered.

Some of my visitors, who were pissed off with my consistent demand for 'evidence' before condemning Najib in the Altantuyaa case, pooh-pooh-ed away at my comment on Dr M's demand for the crooked bridge to be built, but guess what, today the Malay Mail Online has just published Dr M: Najib broke pledge to build crooked bridge and also mentioned that, according to Dr M, Najib in so doing (not building the bridge), has kowtow-ed to the Sing government.

It's obvious Dr M detests that lil' red dot.

Aiyoh, yes lah, it's so clear but of course those unfortunately blind couldn't see, but how about those visitors of mine who want to be blind because they do not want to see?

Anyway, I guess with Dr M not liking this or detesting that, I want to make a guess that Dr M has at least 3 bête noires.

In French the word (plural) bête noires means 'black beasts' and has been adopted by the English language to signal 'things or persons detested or to be avoided'.

I reckon Dr M's 3 bête noires are:

(a) Chinese Malaysians who do not support BN-UMNO.

Incidentally, in general Chinese Malaysians have until recent times (2008 onward) supported BN-UMNO, and perhaps the round about-turn by them from BN to Pakatan (including supporting PAS, gulp) has traumatized not only Dr M but many in UMNO.

But they have never bothered to ask why, or they are 'acting dunno', perhaps to them, because UMNO is never ever 'wrong'. To paraphrase Eric Segal, 'UMNO means never having to say sorry' - a notorious example would be Ismail Sabri Yaakob, our dearest Minister of Agriculture and Agro-Based Industry.

OK, so accept the consequences.

In his younger days Dr M stated quite publicly and arrogantly he didn't need the Chinese votes, so in the 1969 election the Chinese in his constituency of Kota Setar Selatan handed their votes to his competitor, Yusof Rawa, the party president of PAS (then called PMIP).

Remember this was in 1969 and not 2008 nor 2013 and for Chinese to support PMIP then must have meant they were most hurt by the arrogance of the UMNO candidate.

Of course Dr M lost and according to RPK, he has never forgiven the Chinese, though we should remind him that it was he who said he didn't need their votes, wakakaka, so what was there to be angry about those damn Chinese voters. Adoi, he not only wanted his cake but also to eat it.

RPK also wrote recently: Dr Mahathir also accused the Tunku of giving in to the Chinese and that, said Dr Mahathir, was why the Chinese no longer fear the Alliance Party, as the result of the May 1969 general election had proven.

In other words, the Chinese should be kept in fear of the government so that they will continue to vote for the ruling party.

And do read my November 2013 post Those damn Chinese! on Dr M, his son, the Sungai Limau by-election and those bloody Chinese voter-kingmakers, wakakaka. Just a very brief extract of that post, as follows:

... we know what really happened after that, no small thanks to Dr Mahathir’s Perkasa, and the Chinese were once again stampeded into voting for PAS in 2013 as they did in 1969 and 2008 ...

So again I have to say, if UMNO loses GE-14, it's all no thanks to Dr M, wakakaka, though I'm not too sure what the future holds in store on Chinese support for PAS.

(b) Chinese Malaysians doing better than Malays. While I can understand somewhat his ethnic concerns, it would be more balanced if he also realizes that there are many Chinese who have fallen by the wayside, admittedly not as many as the Indian Malaysians.

He should also be aware that the marginalized or fallen nons do NOT have one thing many of the poor Malays have, to wit, land to work on and eke out at least a meagre living.

But the more important point is that it's better to encourage the Malays to do better than the Chinese (and many Malays have) rather than begrudge the Chinese their success (remembering Chinese have also failed abysmally) - see my post June 2005 post titled The Lotus Will Not Bloom For One Man.

(c) Sing doing better than Malaysians, perhaps because he and the late LKY have been acrimonious competitors or perhaps because Sing government and people are mainly those pesky Chinese? If so on the latter, see (b) above.

Anyway, Sing may be doing better only in the material aspects, when in reality Malaysians are far 'richer' in the holistic sense than those materialistic kiasu Sing.

Yes, we are far more lay-back but then we're by far more happy, and I dare say we in general are by far more filial to our parents - I read of a Sing man who after his parents had signed over their assets including their apartment to him, he and his wife drove the parents out of the house. with those parents ending up living in the stairwell of their apartment block. He is a most un-Confucian Chinese. We Malaysians must be better children and hopefully also parents.

Only drawback is we in Malaysia suffer a high level of corruption and non-accountable public institutions compared to those in that lil' red dot.

O GOOD LORD (excuse my atheist's blasphemy in using the name of looes74's god, though not in vain, wakakaka), it suddenly dawns on me that Dr M's 3 bête noires are all bloody f**king Chinese lah, remembering that Sing are mainly Chinese.

Hmmm, I am sure it's just a coincidence, wakakaka.

Char koay teow, Malay style

Once I penned a char koay teow story about my friend Tan Ah Kow who was a real char koay teow hawker - for more, read my KTemoc Kongsamkok post titled The 'rich' char koay teow boy.

But the above is about genuine though haram char koay teow, which uses a "particular type" of lard and also some laap-cheong (sausages), the sort Muslims don't want to even think about, let alone eat.

In this post I want to narrate a char koay teow story but without the haram stuff as I have in mind a Malay-style char koay teow - note it's Malay-style and not Malaysian-style.

The dietary consideration is that it is devoid of the haram ingredients Chinese love, but you my dear readers especially Muslims have to assess and decide whether it's halal even though I suggest it's non-haram, because non-haram doesn't automatically confer a halal label on the food, wakakaka.

The word 'char' in char koay teow is 'stir fry' or 'goreng'. And in a char koay teow scenario the goreng-ing is usually done with chilli paste, pepper and in a wok that's burning hot, known in Canto as 'wok-hei' (breath of the wok) where the product of the goreng-ing will ensure the food being served still retains the heat (or breath) of the super-hot wok for several long minutes after being served.

Believe, in such a hot combination it's not comfy if you happen to to be the koay teow (rice noodles strips or sticks), and you can take it the goreng-er indeed wants the koay teow to feel the heat, wakakaka.

The char koay teow I have in mind is not a genuine dish but a political char koay teow, Malay style, wakakaka, a type which I had already mentioned to in a previous post titled National hero?, where I wrote:

Has Dr M been right to char koay teow on the Altantuyaa case, by calling on Najib NOW to answer allegedly unanswered questions on the murder of the Mongolian model, or ...

... to declare he is willing to meet up with the mum of convicted murderer Sirul, ...

... and the last in my opinion, just plain silly and scraping the bottom of the barrel, ...

... to state the convicted killer (Sirul) did not murder anyone when he was Dr M's bodyguard - an assertion which has been nothing more than just a silly provocation with no connection whatsoever to what Sirul might have done and did subsequently to serving Dr M.

Wakakaka!

Take the current situation where Dr Mahathir is snapping at Najib's heel to make the latter 'come clean' on the Altantuyaa murder, regardless of Najib's involvement, and where Mahfuz Omar of PAS has already arranged for Sirul Azhar Umar's mum to meet up with Dr M, and is now arranging for a phone link-up between Sirul ad Dr M.

What we have starring in this char koay teow tale or comedy of nonsense is:

(a) a (so-called) retired politician presented to us (admittedly not by Dr M himself) as if he is a current Malaysian Criminal Special Investigator (CSI). To be fair to him he has urged police to investigate further,

(b) a convicted killer who is highly valued by some sides of politics and thus shouldn't be executed as per the death sentence the court has handed down to him, apparently because he allegedly has only followed instructions but which even that, for some unexplained reason makes him somehow guiltless of murder. To be fair to Sirul he expresses his disappointment with politicians EXPLOITING his mum for political reasons,

(c) a mum who like my late mum would swear her son is the nicest bloke in town, and that the son if naughty was only following instructions,

(d) a PAS politician who went all the way to Australia with Sirul's mum BUT came back empty handed, but who now switches to his political life line called Dr Mahathir, currently an anti Najib proponent. What next? Call on PAS fave line, that of "divine wrath", perhaps manifested as another flood or another tsunami?

Somewhere, somehow, sometime (in the immediate future), there is high expectation by many Pakatan followers (I'm definitely not one of them, god forbid, excuse the pun, wakakaka) that the above CSI team will reveal the "real" (as in their hopes) murderer of Altantuyaa Shaariibuu, preferably Najib. If not Najib, then another further investigation should be called for.

And their main investigative line is beautifully simple (or rather, simplistic), to harass Najib into self-confession or at least, to make him lose his position as head of UMNO and thus PM of Malaysia.

That, my dear readers, is the real objective, and not justice for Altantuyaa. Surely you were not dreaming?

Anyway, where is the evidence of Najib ever knowing Altantuyaa, minus of course the amazing photoshop skills of Tian Chua or the relentless G.A.N insinuations by PKR originally and now PAS, or the SD that RPK lodged but which contents, according to RPK, came from some former staff of Ku Li?

In a Malaysiakini article, it was reported that:

Raja Petra had previously blogged that he was introduced to Lt Kol Azmi Zainal Abidin - who he described as being the "number two in the special branch of the military intelligence" - who was the source of the accusation against Rosmah.

The people Raja Petra said introduced him to Azmi, furthermore, were Nik Azmi Nik Daud and John Pang, both of whom had worked for Umno stalwart Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah, and blogger Din Merican who was once close to Anwar.

In the interview with Ashraf, Raja Petra said he does not accept any longer the storyline pushed by the trio.

Was Altantuyaa harassing Najib when she was alive and in KL? If not, why not? Speak up and don't be stupefied into dumbness!

Why hasn't Dr Mahathir raise the Altnatuyaa issue much earlier, in fact from Day 1? Why only now when he is known to be at venomous odds with Najib?

Najib revealed that in his tete-a-tete with Dr Mahathir, one of two things Dr Mahathir wanted him to do was to revive the “crooked bridge” project linking Johor and Singapore, thus confirming our suspicion on why he undermined AAB to such an extent that UMNO suffered collateral damage in 2008, and from which the party never quite recovered.

In any case, it can be argued that it has been Dr Mahathir who made UMNO lost its 2/3 in 2008, and not AAB. AAB was the hapless victim.

Dr M has recently said that Najib will lose the next election for UMNO but on the logic of this post's discussion we can argue that if UMNO were to lose in GE-14, it would be Dr Mahathir who loses it for his party by continuously undermining Najib and thus indirectly UMNO.

The other probable sin of Najib in Dr M's eyes, as we can speculate, would be Najib's cooperation with the Sing government in the development of KTM land in Singapore. If Dr M was Yama, I speculate he would have consigned Najib to the 18th Hell for eternity for the most blasphemous sin of cooperating with Sing, wakakaka.

Hasn't it been bad enough of Najib for refusing to revive Dr M's 'crooked bridge' but to also now cooperate with Sing on developing a sweet piece of real estate in Sing owned by KTM?

Okay, so has the char koay teow-ing by Dr Mahathir and PAS' Mahfuz Omar been halal? You tell me!

Of course those of us who'd blindly support an attack, no doubt on a political enemy, but without any real evidence, are just as guilty as those people who char koay teow for their own vile political agenda. 

I too want BN-UMNO to lose and despite silly accusations by some of my readers, don't support Najib (which Chinese Malaysian would of a man who wanted to bath his keris with Chinese blood) but how about some intelligent thinking, fairness and self integrity, and non-moronic blind sickening Bush-ism for a change?

Let us have some real evidence, not just prejudiced moronic wishful thinking! Possible? But I won't hold my breath, wakakaka.
