SEREMBAN - Negeri Sembilan PKR Youth (AMK) has urged Menteri Besar Datuk Ismail Lasim and the state executive councillors (Exco) to take political responsibility by resigning immediately following what it described as an open act of disloyalty towards the Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan.

Negeri Sembilan AMK chief Mohamad Hamizan Mohd Bahtiar said recent developments over the past few days had raised more questions.

"AMK strongly condemns the decision by the Menteri Besar and the entire Exco line-up to recognise the abdication of Tuanku Muhriz.

"What has happened over the past few days has raised more questions than answers for the people of Negeri Sembilan," he said in a statement.

He said this was because the Menteri Besar himself had previously questioned the validity of the proclamation and claimed that he had been forced to sign it.

He added that a police report had also been lodged over the matter.

"However, today, the same Menteri Besar and administration have suddenly taken the position that the proclamation is valid.

"The authorities must conduct a comprehensive investigation into all allegations concerning the pressure, documents and process that led to this crisis," he said.

Mohamad Hamizan said the people of the state had the right to know what actually happened, including who had pressured the Menteri Besar as alleged.

He stressed that what was happening was not an ordinary political dispute, but concerned the throne and the Constitution of the State of Negeri Sembilan.

"If the proclamation was previously said to be invalid, on what basis is it now accepted as valid? Has the Menteri Besar now withdrawn his claim that he was pressured?

"The law is not a toy that can be interpreted one way today and changed tomorrow according to political convenience," he said.

He also stressed that the institution of the Rulers is far above any political party, even if there is a change in government.

He added that the dignity of the throne and the supremacy of the Constitution must always be upheld and must never be played with.

In addition, Mohamad Hamizan urged UMNO Negeri Sembilan to state its position on the issue currently unfolding.

"UMNO must answer to the people on matters concerning the throne and the state Constitution. There is no room for confusion or a hands-off attitude," he said.

On Sept 9, the Undang Yang Empat, including the disputed Undang, showed a document purportedly containing the proclamation of Tuanku Muhriz's dismissal as Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan, which was said to have been signed by Menteri Besar Datuk Ismail Lasim.

This followed Ismail's media statement on Sept 6 expressing his support and loyalty to Tuanku Muhriz.

He said his focus was now on carrying out his responsibilities as the Menteri Besar of Negeri Sembilan in the interests of the people and the state.

However, on Sept 9, Ismail claimed that he had been forced to sign the proclamation document, without stating the party or individual who had pressured him.

He also said that he had lodged a police report over the matter.
