PARTI Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Vice-President Nurul Izzah Anwar stressed that the stability of the Unity Government must be fully utilised to drive development and ensure the nation's future.
She said that both Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Barisan Nasional (BN) need to realize that this is no longer a time to argue over race and religion.
"This government is stable; we don't want to fight any more about race and religion. There is no time for that anymore.
"When we are good, we are stable, we can attract investment and take care of the people," she said when speaking at the Perak Unity Dinner in conjunction with the Ayer Kuning DUN by-election.
Also present was the BN candidate for Ayer Kuning DUN, Dr Mohamad Yusri Bakir.
According to Izzah, this year Malaysia has a major role as the Chair of ASEAN, at a time when the world is facing pressure from a major power, the United States.
"This is where we need to prove our strength and unity in this coalition so that we can take care of Malaysia, including the entire state of Perak," she said.
She explained that the government's priority is to ensure that all policies enacted by the Unity Government are centred on the needs of the people, especially after the country recovers from the Covid-19 pandemic.
She said this includes efforts to eradicate poverty and open more job opportunities, including through the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programme.
The Perak Unity Dinner, attended by over 2,600 people, was also attended by Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) president, Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing and the MCA president, Datuk Seri Wee Ka Siong.
Also present were Perak BN Chairman, Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad, MCA Deputy President, Datuk Dr Mah Hang Soon; PKR Vice Presidents, Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari and Chang Lih Kang, as well as Kampar Member of Parliament, Chong Zhemin. – April 21, 2025
