“I didn’t err but you stated twice yourself PADU costs RM85.27m”, Wee slams ‘Formula King’ Rafizi

“I didn’t err but you stated twice yourself PADU costs RM85.27m”, Wee slams ‘Formula King’ Rafizi

MCA president Datuk Seri Wee Kas Siong has fumed at Economic Minister Rafizi Ramli for accusing him of “plucking from his dream” the so-called RM85.27 mil figure as the total development cost for the Madani government’s Central Database Hub (PADU) project to identify targeted subsidy recipients.

The Ayer Hitam MP further furnished evidence of two parliamentary responses citing the Pandan MP as stating that PADU’s total development cost was RM85.27 mil.

They were written responses provided for Oral Question No. 20 posed by PAS Rantau Panjang MP Datuk Siti Zailah Mohd Yusoff (PN-PAS) on July 1 and that for Oral Question No. 53 from DAP Bakri MP Tan Hong Pin on July 11.

“YB Rafizi, it is crystal clear that the RM85.27 mil figure as PADU’s development cost came directly from you and is now on official record!” Wee clarified on his Facebook page for a third time yesterday (Nov 8) after failing to get Rafizi to retract claim that he got his facts wrong on PADU.

I show the evidence that the Minister of Economy, YB Rafizi Ramli has announced the total cost of PADU development is as much as RM85 million, or to be precise, RM85.27 million.
On July 1, 2024 there is a written answer to the oral inquiry number 20 presented by the Member of Parliament of the Panjang Region, YB Dato’ Hajah Siti Zailah binti Mohd Yusoff (PN-PAS).
Usually, the oral questions in the Rules of the Meeting are answered only by the Minister or Deputy Minister in the House of Representatives as far as question number 10 - 15 only, as the House will continue with other matters such as debates of the proposal etc.
Therefore, the questions that cannot be answered orally by the Minister or Deputy Minister, every ministry will give answers in writing. That's why for question number 20, for example, the answer is given in writing.
In the original question part (b), YB Dato' Hajah Siti Zailah asked about the cost of PADU development and the answer received was RM85.27 million.
On July 11, 2024 oral question number 53 from Bakri Parliament Member, YB Tan Hong Pin (PH-DAP) who directly asked about the cost of PADU implementation. Again, the same answer received is RM85.27 million.
Dear the wise YB Rafizi, it is clear that the figure of RM85.27 million as PADU development cost came from you yourself and is now recorded as an Official Statement!
After 4 months have passed, why don't you make the Minister's explanation to correct the RM85.27 million figure, if you think the figure that has been given to the Rantau Panjang and Bakri Parliamentarians are not correct?
What's even more absurd is Rafizi accusing me of making false statements when using the figure of RM85.27 million as the cost of solid development.
Farewell... You who answer in writing twice repeating the figure of RM85.27 million, finally Wee Ka Siong is to be blamed?
Now you want to blame the officers? Don't you as a Minister check and be careful in your work? Why is it so easy to blame people? After this, want to blame the media for stating the figure of RM85.27 million? Voice of Justice also reported the same thing, will Rafizi blame them too?
The bottom line;
Members of Parliament asked, you answered.
Your answer is found in the Official Statement.
Re-media your answer.
I repeat your answer.
All of a sudden I was blamed ??
Don't look for the tricks. If you're wrong just admit it. Your Ministerial post status will not drop. I'm not surprised if Rafizi considers himself the most intelligent person in the world, but don't consider people including me STUPID?

I have shown proof that the Minister of Economy, YB Rafizi Ramli, announced that the total development cost of PADU is RM85 million, or to be exact, RM85.27 million.
On 1 July 2024 a written response was provided for Oral Question Number 20 posed Rantau Panjang MP, YB Dato’ Hajah Siti Zailah binti Mohd Yusoff (PN-PAS).
Usually, oral questions in the Order Paper are only answered by the Minister or Deputy Minister in the Dewan Rakyat up to question number 10-15, as the session proceeds with other matters such as debating motions and other issues.
Questions that are not answered verbally by the Minister or Deputy Minister are responded to in writing by each ministry. That is why, for example, a written response was given for question number 20.
In the original question, part (b), YB Dato' Hajah Siti Zailah asked about the development cost of PADU, and the response given was RM85.27 million.
On July 11, 2024, Oral Question Number 53 from Bakri MP YB Tan Hong Pin (PH-DAP) asked about the implementation cost of PADU. Once again, the same answer was provided: RM85.27 million.
YB Rafizi, it is crystal clear that the figure RM85.27 million as the development cost of PADU came directly from you and is now on official record!
Four months have passed, so why haven’t you issued a ministerial clarification to correct the RM85.27 million figure if you believe the number provided to Rantau Panjang and Bakri MPs is incorrect?
What’s even more baffling is that Rafizi accuses me of making false statements for using the figure RM85.27 million as the development cost of PADU.
You are the one who answered in writing twice, repeating the RM85.27 million figure, yet in the end, Wee Ka Siong is being blamed?
Now you’re blaming the officers? As a Minister, don’t you check and verify your work? Why is it so easy for you to blame others? Next, will you blame the media for publishing the RM85.27 million figure? Suara Keadilan also reported the same thing, so will Rafizi blame them too?
In conclusion:
An MP asks, you respond.
Your answer is recorded officially.
The media repeats your answer.
I repeat your answer.
Suddenly, I’m the one being blamed?
Don’t make excuses. If there’s been a mistake, just admit it. Your status as a Minister won’t be diminished. I wouldn’t be surprised if Rafizi considers himself the smartest person in the world, but don’t assume the public, including myself, are FOOLS.

“Four months have lapsed yet why haven’t you issued a ministerial clarification to correct the RM85.27 mil figure if you believe the number provided to Rantau Panjang and Bakri MPs is incorrect?’

What is even more baffling at this juncture, according to Wee, is that Rafizi who is also the PKR deputy president has accused him of making false statements by using the RM85.27 mil figure as PADU’s development cost.

“You are the one who answered in writing twice – repeating the RM85.27 mil figure – yet in the end, Wee Ka Siong is being blamed?” berated the former Transport Minister.

“Moreover, you’re blaming your own officers. As a minister, don’t you check and verify their work? Why is it so easy for you to blame others? Next, will you blame the media for publishing the RM85.27 mil figure? As Suara Keadilan also reported the same thing, so will Rafizi blame them, too?”

Added Wee: “Don’t create excuses. If a mistake has been made, just admit it. Your status as a minister won’t be diminished. I wouldn’t be surprised if Rafizi considers himself the smartest person in the world but don’t assume the public, including myself, are FOOLS.”

Earlier in the Dewan Rakyat on Thursday (Nov 7), Wee had wanted Rafizi Ramli to retract his claim that the four-term Ayer Hitam MP has erred on PADU’s development cost.

On Wednesday (Nov 6), Rafizi denied Wee’s claim that the development and implementation of PADU cost up to RM85 mil as the cost for the database had only reached RM31 mil as of September.

This is despite the RM85.27 mil figure was also cited by media which included The Edge, The Star and Suara Keadilan.

According to Rafizi, the RM31 mil included RM800,000 on the servers, firewall and network security, RM4.6 mil for platform database encryption and other purposes, and RM6.4 mil for cloud services. The heftiest expenditure on Padu, Rafizi said, was RM19.3 mil for nationwide registration operations.

“I don’t want to refer him to the Parliamentary Rights and Privileges Committee but just to clear my name, I’m asking the Speaker to advise the minister to do something,” Wee had pointed out in the Dewan Rakyat. “This includes retracting his claim against me and giving an explanation in the Dewan Rakyat.” – Nov 9, 2024

  1. Wee Wee has set himself up as a Government critic... which is perfectly fine, but then MCA has no grounds complaint that he doesn't get "due respect" in appointments..just being appointed as Zahid " Economic Advisor "
