A daughter of Al-Arqam founder Ashaari Muhammad has made shocking claims that a Global Ikhwan Service and Business Holdings (GISBH) leader had raped and abused her.

Adding insult to injury, Ummu Atiyah Ashaari also alleged that the leader was abetted by her own siblings.

The 41-year-old said the incident occurred after the leader wanted to force her into marrying him, claiming that the order came from the Prophet and her late father, known as Abuya among his followers.

“I didn’t want to marry (him) because he was old and fat… I was disgusted (by him),” she told a press conference in Kuala Lumpur today.

Ummu (above) claimed the leader had forcibly taken her to Turkiye where she was tortured for not heeding his wishes until one day, he raped her.

Explaining the matter, Ummu alleged it all began while she was living in Jordan, when the GISBH leader expressed his desire to wed her as his fourth wife via a Whatsapp message, prompting her to flee to her friend’s house.

However, the GISBH leader and his followers soon found her and she was made to surrender to him.

“When I met him, I was asked to clasp his hand, and that was considered (entering a) marriage," Ummu said.

She said at the time, she had already been married before and had a child, although the child was taken away from her.

Burned with lighter, submerged in water

After the “marriage”, Ummu was made to live in Turkiye where she said she was subjected to being burned with a lighter and submerged in a pool.

During one of the incidents, her brother, who was a follower of the GISBH leader, had asked her to remove her clothes and expose herself to the man.

"Because I feared for my life after being submerged for over an hour, swallowing a lot of water and having chest pain, I was forced to say yes," she said.

Malaysiakini is withholding the name of the leader and Ummu’s siblings pending a reply from them.

Sodomy at care centre

Another GISBH victim, known only as Dalila Diyana, claimed that her two siblings were also victims of abuse and sexual assault.

She said that her brothers had been sodomised at a GISBH care centre and were also burned with a hot spoon.

"My two brothers were victims of sexual assault and sodomy," she alleged.

Dalila said she had lodged a police report over the matter, which led to a police crackdown on GISBH and its leaders.

The operation in September also resulted in the police rescuing hundreds of children the group reportedly exploited and abused.

Authorities accuse GISBH of following deviant teachings from Al-Arqam, including Aurad Muhammadiyah.

Many of its leaders, including another of Ashaari's daughters - Khaulah - have denied this allegation.

Al-Arqam teachings alive

However, Razali Rahmat, a former caretaker of a GISBH welfare home, testified at the press conference alongside Ummu that the group still practises Aurad Muhammadiyah.

“I frequently opposed their system, and as a result, I was quarantined for three months in a small house in the forest, where we could not contact the outside world.

"While quarantined, I had to read Aurad Muhammadiyah as a condition of repentance, and we had to praise the GISBH leaders,” he said.
