The U.S. carried out its first airdrop of aid to Gaza. Biden said he "trusts Israel will investigate" Thursday's aid distribution disaster. Egyptian sources said cease-fire/hostage talks are set to resume on Sunday, and that the aid incident pushed negotiators to accelerate their work to maintain progress. Yemen's Houthis sank their first ship – the UK-owned Rubymar – after it was initially attacked by the Iran-backed group in February.

What happened today

An air-drop of aid in Gaza.

■ UNITED STATES: The U.S. on Saturday carried out its first air-drop of aid using three C-130 planes, two U.S. officials told Reuters. President Joe Biden had confirmed on Friday that the U.S. would drop food aid into Gaza, saying that not enough aid is currently getting in.

  • 66 aid bundles were dropped including 38,000 meals, a U.S. official said, in an operation carried out with the Jordanian air force. The bundles did not include water or medical supplies.

  • A senior Biden administration official said Saturday that the U.S. is discussing a maritime aid route into Gaza with Cyprus, the UN and commercial firms, and also that the problem hasn't been getting trucks into Gaza, but distribution.

  • CENTCOM said in a post on X that it was planning for "follow-on airborne aid delivery missions" as part of "a sustained effort to get more aid into Gaza."

  • White House Spokesperson John Kirby said the U.S. will redouble efforts to open up a maritime corridor for aid into Gaza, adding that "The Israelis have tried air-drops themselves, and they're supportive of our efforts to do the same."

■ GAZA AID DEATHS: After dozens of Palestinians were killed during Thursday's fatal aid distribution incident, White House Spokesperson Kirby said, "We've asked the government of Israel to investigate, and it's our assessment that they're taking this seriously."

  • The World Health Organization said the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and growing hunger contributed to the deaths of Palestinians in the disaster, adding that "Food is so scarce that we see these situations arising."

  • Britain's Foreign Secretary David Cameron said the deaths in Thursday's incident were "horrific" and called for "an urgent investigation and accountability." He added that "Israel has an obligation to ensure that significantly more humanitarian aid reaches the people of Gaza."

  • U.S. President Joe Biden said on Friday that he "trusts Israel will investigate" the incident and hoped there would be a ceasefire deal between Israel and Hamas by Ramadan, which starts on March 10.

    2. For 2023, before the terrorist Hamas attacks on Israel, the US Government contribution to UNRWA was $206.8 Million , out of a total Wankee contribution to UNRWA, America as a nation, $ 344 Million, the balance contributed by private charities and personal donations, Non-Governmental organisations. So 60% of contributions to UNRWA by America as a nation comes from US Government funds.

      Better don't waste good money

    5. Read carefully about UNRWA statement with fine comb.

In 2022, 44.3 per cent of the Agency’s total pledges of US$ 1.17 billion came from EU member states, who contributed US$ 520.3 million, including through the European Commission. The United States, Germany, the EU, and Sweden were the largest individual donors, contributing a cumulative 61.4 per cent of the Agency’s overall funding.

NOTE : there r NO distinctions between individual govt & ngo pledges..

cf: double check US UNRWA pledge in 2022 US administrational budget breakdown!

Wakakaka… caoka as usual, pledged but refused to pay as in all UN cobtributions. Moreover, most of those paid were extracted from the NGO fund!

Only a fart twisting mfer would game on to fart about generalities to suit its lie!

      But them, know nothing mah!

  2. At least the USA has assisted in some way. What about the Arab nations? They only made use of the Palestines for their own interests and now abandon them!
