Nurul Izzah to lodge police report over slanderous social media post
PETALING JAYA: Former Permatang Pauh MP Nurul Izzah Anwar will soon lodge a police report over a slanderous posting made against her.
In a statement on Facebook, the daughter of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, said that her lawyers would lodge a report sometime next week after the Chinese New Year celebration.
"Let's not forget the audit by ProKhas on the Economic Stimulus Implementation and Coordination Unit Between National Agencies (Laksana), only then the true story will be concluded.
"Don't forget that spreading false information and slander is a violation under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998. Thank you to those who are reading," she said Sunday (Feb 11).
Previously, a Facebook user uploaded a slanderous post against Nurul Izzah, claiming that she had been appointed as an advisor to the National Economic Action Council (Laksana) and had received a salary of RM35,000.
The content also alleged that Nurul Izzah was allocated two staffers, who were paid between RM5,000 and RM20,000.
