Ustaz apologises for insensitive remarks on Thaipusam clip

Wadi Annuar Ayub said he had no intention to insult followers of other faiths.

PETALING JAYA: An ustaz has apologised to the Hindu community for making an insensitive remark on a viral clip showing a Thaipusam procession involving Malays during his Friday sermon at a mosque in Melaka last week.

Wadi Annuar Ayub admitted that he committed a mistake by using the term “satan worship” (“sembah syaitan”) when commenting on the group of Malays who participated in a Thaipusam procession, a practice he said was forbidden in Islam.

“I would like to apologise to the entire Hindu community for the statement.

“I would like to clarify that I had no intention of insulting followers of other faiths,” he said in a statement.

Wadi said he respected the diverse communities in the country and hoped that religious harmony would be maintained with this apology.

His remarks on the Thaipusam procession clip drew anger from Hindus and others who lambasted him for misguiding his disciples and insulting other faiths.

  1. Yup...apology all accepted. All is good. Such a humble man...he was so regretful and he had no intention to insult followers of other faiths....a man of God.

Give the man a Tiger!....oh, sorry Tiger is haram; perhaps air Zam Zam?

But if a non muslim says something disparaging about islam, do you think an apology will assuage muslims? Just imagine the number of muslims frothing like wolves infected with something mysterious ala the show Legend starring Will Smith.

And will the police stand quiet?

But then what can we expect? This is after all Malaysia, Truly Asia

  2. No need to apologize, police sho charge them, sentenced by courts,Rotana and jail time. See if others will follow them? You put 10 or 20 of them in than u will find haony because others will start to think before spreading their poison.
