- Zaid Ibrahim questions the prime minister on the reappointment of Azam Baki.
- The former minister also criticises DAP for its silence on the matter.
Zaid Ibrahim has delivered a scathing critique, questioning how Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim can claim the nation’s trust when his own daughter Nurul Izzah rejects his decisions.
The former law minister also took a direct shot at DAP, citing Kluang MP Wong Shu Qi’s statement that the party is “just minding our own business”.
His remarks were in response to Nurul Izzah’s rare public condemnation of the controversial reappointment of MACC chief commissioner Azam Baki, a decision she called “unwelcome”.

She also promised to raise the matter with her father, the PKR president, if she is elected as his number two.
“Azam’s contract has been extended three times under the very watch of her father, yet the princess of reformasi has only now found her voice in time with the party election,” Zaid said.
Turning his gaze to DAP, he highlighted the deafening silence from a party that once claimed to be the watchdog against corruption and abuse regarding Azam’s appointment.
“DAP has long branded itself the champion of the people, the bulwark against graft.
“Yet now, in Wong’s own words, it’s content with ‘minding its own business’. It chooses to protect power and positions instead of principles,” he condemned, recalling Pakatan Harapan’s criticism of the MACC chief commissioner in the past.
Where’s the dirt?
Wong’s remarks came while defending DAP against PKR’s Wong Chen, who accused former opposition parties of embracing the culture of money politics.
Zaid also warned that Azam’s latest extension has deepened suspicions that he wields a dangerous kind of power - effectively holding the government hostage.

“This raises a chilling question: what dirt does Azam hold on the leaders?
“What makes him untouchable? Is the dog wagging the tail or is it the other way around?” he asked.
The extension of Azam’s contract also drew criticism from various quarters, including election watchdog Bersih, which cited it as proof that the Madani government has no solid roadmap for a reform agenda.

Could it be just be sandiwara, to create the perfect 'excuse' to allow a graceful exit of Nurul, and pave the way for Rafizi?
