'Fanning flames' claim: PN Youth to lodge police reports against Ngeh

Perikatan Nasional Youth will lodge police reports against Beruas MP Ngeh Koo Ham for alleging that PAS and Bersatu fanned the flames behind the fire that occurred at his home early yesterday.

According to its chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari, this is to counter the DAP leader's malicious slander over the incident.

"PN Youth condemns Ngeh's attempt to link PN to the fire at his home without providing any evidence.

"We relay condolences to Ngeh over the blaze, but that does not give him the licence to make baseless allegations," Fadhli (above) said in a statement last night.

"Ngeh should not precede the authorities in concluding the cause of the fire, in the case it was an attack."

Fadhli was responding to Ngeh's remark that PN components PAS and Bersatu were responsible for fanning tensions that led to the fire, following the brouhaha over his remark related to the Syariah Court.

Ngeh also said that he forgives the alleged arsonists behind the fire that almost destroyed a Mercedes E300, and partially burnt a Honda CRV, Toyota Hilux, and the porch roof of his house.

‘Let the police probe’

Elaborating, Fadhli said Ngeh should let the authorities conduct their investigations independently.

With his latest remark, Ngeh was also trying to cover up his own past mistakes of offending the sensitivities of Muslims, alleged Fadhli.

"Ngeh does not need to pretend to be 'holy' by forgiving the alleged arsonist, while at the same time throwing malicious slander against PN and those who criticised his acts.

"Ngeh is yet again trying to create racial and religious tension by making baseless allegations. Therefore, as a way to stop him from repeating this 'evil deed', PN Youth will lodge police reports to counter Ngeh's slander against PN, and the Muslims in general," Fadhli added.

Perak Police had confirmed that the fire was suspected to be an act of arson and noted that the investigation is being carried out from multiple angles.

Luckily, there were no casualties reported in the 2.50am incident.

It is worth noting that following widespread backlash, Ngeh apologised and withdrew his proposal for the inclusion of non-Muslim experts in the special committee to review the jurisdiction of the Syariah Court.
