Want to save Malays? Give 50pct profits, Anwar tells tycoons

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has swiped at tycoons who want to uphold Malay rights but instead enrich themselves and their families.

He said if these tycoons were really serious about saving Malays, they should give up half their profits.

“If you really want to save the Malays, I would like to tell leaders, with the titles of Tuns and Tan Sris that are wealthy - are you really serious about helping Malays?

“Those that gain profit in the billions, give them (Malays) half of your profits tomorrow,” he said at the Madani open house in UiTM, Penang today.

Anwar also mentioned former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad and former finance minister Daim Zainuddin, saying if they were serious about upholding the rights of Malays, what was stolen must be returned to the Malays.

In the past, Anwar claimed that numerous political leaders had accumulated massive wealth.

He added that action would be taken against corrupt individuals who abused their power, including people carrying the titles of ‘Tun’ and ‘Tan Sri’.
