Where would Sng contest if PBM joins BN, asks Ahmad Maslan

PBM’s application to join BN will be subject to approval from all component parties, says Umno secretary-general Ahmad Maslan.

PETALING JAYA: The prospect of Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM) joining Barisan Nasional (BN) is bound to cause problems, especially over the seat its current president Larry Sng would contest, says Umno secretary-general Ahmad Maslan.

Ahmad noted that Sng was the MP for Julau, a constituency in Sarawak, where BN had already decided that it would not be fielding any candidates in the next general election (GE15).

“Any decision on PBM being a part of BN will be made through consensus by the component parties, that is Umno, MCA, MIC, and Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah (PBRS).

“But where would Sng contest (if PBM joined BN) since BN has already made the decision not to contest in Sarawak?” Ahmad was quoted as saying by Sinar Harian.

The Pontian MP said this was an issue that BN needed to deliberate over before making any decisions over PBM’s application to join the coalition.

Yesterday, Sng was reported to have said that the party’s application to join BN was under way.

According to Sng, the party had given the mandate to Zuraida Kamaruddin to lead negotiations with other party leaders as PBM’s president-designate, especially over potential political cooperation.
