PETALING JAYA
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has dismissed claims that Christians are trying to “take over” Penang.

He said this claim was circulated along with allegations that the influence of Chinese political parties was a threat to the government.

“My goodness, I’m from Penang. You go on and on (with such claims), but why can’t you acknowledge or highlight the strength and goodness (in the Chinese community)?

“There are nasty people among the Chinese, Malay and Indian communities. So what? Choose the good ones and follow the good ones who represent our conscience and values,” he said at the International Civilisation Dialogue 2025 at Universiti Malaya today.

Anwar, however, did not elaborate on the source of these allegations.

Penang is currently led by chief minister Chow Kon Yeow, a DAP central executive committee member who took over the position from party veteran Lim Guan Eng.

DAP secured the most seats in the Penang legislature since 2008. With 19 seats, it leads a coalition government under the Pakatan Harapan umbrella alongside Umno.

Anwar warned that the continued preaching of hatred towards other races would destroy the fabric of multicultural Malaysia.

“We will fail not because we are friendly to the non-Malays. We will fail because we condone corrupt leaders who don’t represent our cause.

“We must instead speak with reason, respect and practise good governance that transcends race,” he said.

Anwar also emphasised the importance of discourse between all ethnicities and dialogue concerning different civilisations, urging educators to promote justice, tolerance and understanding.

“These dialogues are critical for our survival. We must understand and appreciate one another and realise that we are, after all, mere human beings. The beauty is to promote understanding and recognise human dignity, which goes beyond class and race,” he said.

kt informs (from Google):

Islam 45.5% of the population,
Buddhism 37.6%
Hinduism 8.4% and
Christianity 4.3%

Just how the frigg can 4.3% of the population Christianise the entire Penang population?
