PETALING JAYA
Dozens of books related to teachings and doctrines suspected to be promoted by Global Ikhwan Services and Business Holdings (GISBH) were discovered buried by a river near the homes of the group’s followers at Kampung Panji in Kota Bharu, Kelantan, this morning.

Many of the books appeared to have been burned, while thicker and larger copies were buried, Berita Harian reported.

The books are believed to have been buried and burned after police arrested 19 members of the company’s top management, including its chairman and CEO, Nasiruddin Ali, on Wednesday.

Kelantan police raided three homes linked to GISBH at Kampung Panji today, including one in which Nasiruddin’s second wife and 20 children were found. She was among those arrested while more than 30 senior citizens, children and infants were brought to a screening centre.

Police were seen inspecting the houses and the surrounding areas, seizing various books related to GISBH’s teachings and doctrines.

Yesterday, Perlis mufti Asri Zainul Abidin declared that GISBH promotes deviant beliefs and operates businesses in an unIslamic manner, following a review by the state fatwa committee.

Asri said the committee concluded that GISBH’s beliefs are a continuation of those adopted by the banned Al-Arqam movement and that they foster a cult-like devotion to its leaders, elevating them to a status comparable to Prophet Muhammad.

Among the concerning practices highlighted are the blind veneration of leaders, taking blessings from their physical remains, and fabricating new shariah rulings to justify their activities, he said.

200 linked to GISBH arrested, says IGP

The operation in Kelantan follows a similar raid in Selangor this morning, where police sealed off a business centre linked to GISBH at Bandar Country Homes, Rawang, which provides services such as supermarkets, restaurants and hotels.

In a statement, Inspector-General of Police Razarudin Husain said a total of 200 people linked to GISBH have been arrested in Kuala Lumpur, Pahang, Negeri Sembilan, Kelantan and Kedah as of today, with 31 of those arrests made since Wednesday

He said 139 suspects who were previously detained have had their remand extended, while 23 others have been granted police bail.

Those arrested are being investigated under Section 32(a) of the Child Act 2001, Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998, and Section 14 of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Anti-Smuggling of Migrants (Amendment) Act 2022.

Overall, the police have opened 37 investigation papers. Of these, eight investigation papers involving seven suspects have successfully led to 29 charges,
 he said.

On Sept 11, police rescued 402 children from 20 welfare homes in Selangor and Negeri Sembilan which the authorities had linked to GISBH. They also arrested 171 people, including an ustaz and a hostel warden.

According to the police, investigations showed that at least 13 of the children were sodomised or taught to sexually assault others.

Four people linked to the company have since been charged with numerous offences, including sexual assault.
