FMT:
PKR to let law take its
course before deciding on
member charged with
incest
Ampang PKR division leader Syed Ahmad Syed Abdul Rahman Alhadad says if the accused is convicted he should be subjected to a disciplinary hearing by the party.
PETALING JAYA: A PKR division leader says the party will allow for “the law to run its course” before deciding on the fate of a member who was charged with committing incest with his 17-year-old stepdaughter.
Syed Ahmad Syed Abdul Rahman Alhadad, better known as Altimet, said the youth leader had claimed trial.
“He should be subjected to a disciplinary hearing if he is convicted or has pleaded guilty.
“Currently it’s an ongoing court case and he has pleaded not guilty so let the law take its course first,” Syed Ahmad, who heads the Ampang division, told FMT.
Last month, it was reported that a clerk at a public service centre pleaded not guilty in the Ampang sessions court to a charge of committing incest with his stepdaughter.
The offence was allegedly committed at a flat on May 20 and 21.
The charge was framed under Section 376B (1) of the Penal Code.
Similarly, Selangor PKR Youth chief Izuan Kasim said if the clerk was indeed a PKR member, the party would not interfere in court matters.
Izuan said he could not confirm if the accused was indeed a PKR member as the latter did not hold any leadership posts.
“For now, the Selangor youth wing will look into this case more closely, and if he is found guilty, we will take further action, such as revoking his membership.”
