BN wins two-thirds majority in Johor – unofficial

Victory for BN – coalition chairman Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Johor BN chief Hasni Mohammad celebrating in Johor this evening.

PETALING JAYA: After being ousted by the “political tsunami” in 2018, Barisan Nasional (BN) has returned the favour on opposition parties by romping to a two-thirds majority in the state assembly.

Unofficial results from today’s elections indicate that BN has won 39 of the 56 seats in the assembly.

Talk of an underdog victory for Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Perikatan Nasional (PN) amounted to nothing. Their poor results so far (14 for PH and three for PN) raise questions about their readiness for the next general election.

The unofficial results indicate that the predictions of most political analysts were spot on. The Umno-led BN easily recaptured power on its own accord in the state, after having had to share power in a coalition. Their success will surely give greater impetus to calls for an early general election.

PN went toe-to-toe with BN in all 56 seats, while PH contested 50 seats but neither could stop the BN landslide victory.

Former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s Pejuang party, which contested 42 seats, crashed without any success.

😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

The unofficial results are a sign that Umno is primed for a return to federal power, overcoming factionalism to pull off victory in Johor four months after another smashing victory in Melaka.
